I always assumed it was more that Doctor is so messed up, she doesnt want him to also add the burden of her pain to his already astronomical list of guilt and pain hes gathered over 1200 years.

Maybe, but isn't that irresponsible and selfish on his part, then? Not letting companions allow themselves to grieve or what have you, because he's got so much weighing him down?

I am assuming the gold eyes are for turned wolves, blue are for born wolves (remember Jackson is still an enigma) and red is for alphas.
