It was clear that the queen did not know what to do with him. He was half-invisible, no longer appearing to dinners or balls or parties- instead, enjoying the solace of a quiet library in the middle of the evening. He was half the man he used to be, broken by the secret he had promised to take to his grave. He took a deep breath, throwing the book on the table with a large thump, frustrated by his own thoughts- his own blood. It was only then did he realise he had attracted the attention of a familiar friend.
