Writer/Jotter

Sometimes I feel a burning need to write.

It’s like my brain is ablaze with words, and if I donʼt get them down onto paper the pressure will build up inside my head until I burst open and am left in a free fall. I donʼt, however, consider myself a writer. I like to think of myself as a jotter. I jot down my thoughts and move freely among them. I stretch them and make them ache to be complete. I enjoy leaving them unfulfilled. A writer, a true writer, thoroughly exploits each and every thought without discrimination and with full and constant fear of disapproval. Should a writer write things that people hate, then no one will read the things they write. A writer without readers is nothing but a floating thought on the wind: shapeless, untethered, and without boundaries – in essence nonexistent. But a jotter, a jotter never has to finish a thought, a line, a paragraph, a page, a verse, or a chapter. Jotters leave things open-ended and make you, the reader, come to your own conclusions, which always leaves you feeling so much better then listening to someone elseʼs opinions anyway. A jotter can start with a simple line and reform it a million times.
