Burnt Oak is another fav side character design of mine, but his friendship with Bright Mac is tragic, they deserved better, and now you have to suffer with me 😫😭😭

So I wasn't planning on posting these originally, but since its gonna be a million years until I get through the next comic arc, I’ll leave this to hold you over. I can't promise any of these guys will ever make it into the blog, but its fun to share some headcanons!

These are some members of Sunset’s extended family. Her mother & father are Cinnamon Chai & Burnt Oak. And beside them are Sunset’s aunts (and an uncle who’s still a WIP). I also took some liberties and grayed out Chai & Stellar’s mane to show their age. Yes, this means Sunset & Sunburst are cousins!! 

Older!Cherry Oak’s design is a custom from EonIonic; younger Berry!Oak’s design was adopted from @tambelon. SciTwi’s aunts n uncles will be next!

Burnt Oak exudes ‘fell in love with your straight best friend’ yearning gay energy no I will not take constructive critisicm

Adding to the ever expanding list of background ponies I'm too attached to I'm gonna talk about burnt oak for a sec,,,

He is a 'fell in love with my straight best friend and I know it's unrequited but I still support them to the ends of the earth because they're my friend but I also just quietly yearn constantly' icon

He's so torn up over Bright Macs passing that he doesn't really get into a relationship until his like late 50s when the apples urge him to because he deserves love,,

They try to set him up with guys in town but he's kind of an odd duck personality wise (he's very prone to rambling personal anecdotes and doesn't realize how long he's been talking) plus most of the ponies his age are already married

He goes out to the city for a relatives wedding and ends up running late due to talking at a cashier for an extra 45 minutes. He needs someone to get him to the ceremony fast and ends up meeting a cab driver named, well... Cabbie.

On their way to the venue Burnt gets to talking and Cab gets to listening. They go through the whole funny story of why he's late, why he's in manehattan, stories about every relative all the way to the venue. Burnt realizes he's been talking the poor guys ear off the whole way and promptly apologizes, but Cab isn't bothered at all! Things move so fast in the city, it's nice to find someone who can take the time to just talk.

Burnt thinks about the sweet driver the whole evening, and as luck would have it Cab returned to bring him back to his hotel after the ceremony.

Suddenly Burnt is visiting Manhattan a lot more. Cab has a couple interesting stories of his own to tell, even though he'd much rather listen. He too was in the unrequited love club and held off on dating for almost the same reasons as Burnt did. They help each other move on from the past and make a future together.

Once they officially start dating, they bounce around between ponyville and the city a lot. Neither of them are super comfortable leaving their hometown, and long rides are never an issue, so they just migrate as they please.

At first Burnt is nervous to introduce the locals to his big city boyfriend, but they all grow to love him very quick. Cab has a quiet, welcoming aura, and the town takes him in as another father figure just like Burnt. Together they're just a nice older couple who the whole town loves.

These are the boys! Honestly I lowkey want to write a fic about them now I love them a lot zwcecrvrb
