The small group of boys was generating a little bit of talk in the restaurant they were visiting. It wasn't because it was a poly relationship, but because they were laughing loudly about Alex accidentally spilling some of his milkshake. He completely missed his mouth, staring lovingly at his boyfriends, causing it to dribble down his chin and dropping into his lap. After he'd cleaned himself up, he started laughing with them.
"Alex, what the hell?" He looked to John, whose face was completely red from laughing, and offered a weak smile.
"Can I help it I have the most beautiful boyfriends in the world?"
"You could help it by jumping off a cliff."
Alex snorted. "You'd miss me too much Burr."
"That I would."
The finally settled down after that, John and Aaron watching with amusement as Alex and Thomas continued to bicker about the protagonist of some movie marathon they'd had last weekend. Neither were winning at the moment, but everyone would benefit from the pair getting riled up when they got home. So Aaron and John let it slide for now. So long as it remained a heated debate and not a mud slinging contest, they wouldn't mind a bit. And to hell with anyone who was glaring at them.
"I'm just saying, Harry and Draco should have been a thing."
"Thomas, you just like enemies-to-lovers relationships. I can't take you seriously until you stop. 'Sides, he should have been with Hermione, not Ginny."
"Ugh, you disgust me."
"You're not the one having to look at you when you get up in the morning." And here came the mud slinging.
Aaron was the first to stop it before it escalated. "Okay, I say we go home, enjoy a nice evening in, catch up on Doctor Who, and drop this argument for now. Come back to it later."
Both opened their mouths to argue, but Aaron and John each took one and kissed them before they could say anything. It was the perfect way to end the chaos and shut them up.
"You know, home sounds like a good idea." Thomas pressed his forehead against John's, who was the one to silence him. He was smiling like a lovesick puppy, but he didn't give a rat's ass about it; Thomas was happy, and that was enough.
Aaron, meanwhile, was being peppered with playful kisses from Alex and attempting to stifle his usually quiet laughter. It wasn't working, and a giggle slipped out, much to Alex's enjoyment. Alex stopped and pulled back a hair, grinning at his boyfriend. "You always have the best ideas, Aaron."
"Oi, what am I, chopped liver?"
Thomas snorted and kissed John on the nose. "Don't worry love, we all know I'm the brains of this operation."
"I wouldn't trust you with a scalpel." That earned Alex a swat from Aaron, but it didn't stop him from laughing at Thomas' expression.
He almost spilled his milkshake again, trying to finish it off so they could leave but unable to stop staring at his boyfriends again. Alex thought himself to be a fortunate guy.
