Note to self: write horror fic where Jon is an academic student brought to a remote island by the Lukas family to get practical field experience but they and the fishing village they run is real fucked up. I'm talking people walking into the sea and not coming back. I'm talking pets and birds and fish washing up on the beach. I'm talking a town that smells like fish on a good day, and shit and viscera on a bad one. Fishermen hauling up fucked up fish that make you sick to eat. People still eat them anyway.

Jon has to eat dinner with the Lukas family, in person, every night. He can't go outside after dark. They have rulrs, you see...

Also There's a murderer on the loose, mauling people like some kind of wild animal. The inhabitants say the island is cursed.

Jon is a skeptic and doesn't believe anything that's happening is anything more than coincidence, rumors and sheer bad luck. Even when he stumbled across a dude getting eaten alive.
