25 Days of Writing: Day 4
Day 4: What world does your character exist in? Real or imagined? Scientific? Fantastical? Write a scene where your character is shown in their world.
Jace's setting depends on my mood really. For now she lives in the real world.
"Robert Tobias Greene! Move your lard ass!"
Jace Murphy stood on the running board of her beat up Forester and threw more insults at her roommate. The tall, lanky son-of-a-farmer dragged two suitcases behind him as he hurried down his parents' drive.
"California is going to be there whether we leave this minute or three days from now," he grumbled, pulling up at the SUV's trunk. Jace hopped down and rushed to open the trunk.
"The sooner we leave, the more time we can take seeing the sights!" she exclaimed, piling the last of Robby's things onto the mound of personal belongings. It nearly obscured the view from the rearview mirror--a problem Jace fixed by putting her forearms on the top of the pile and pushing down with all her weight.
"Luckily my breakables are up front," Robby said dryly.
"Don't be so grumpy," Jace scolded, narrowly missing his head when she slammed the trunk shut. She scurried to the driver's side and jumped into the car. Her body hummed, and she couldn't seem to remain still.
"Jay, why don't I take first shift..." Robby said carefully, pulling the driver's door open. Jace stilled so quickly Robby had to stop himself from checking her pulse. Sighing, he climbed into the passenger's seat.
"I catch you going twenty-over two times and I am driving for the next two days," he warned, buckling his seat belt.
