I always have several problems with things like Wandavision being like “The Salem Witch Trials were based around actual super-powerful witches” because:
1. Okay how does this uber-powerful witch get killed/oppressed by a bunch of people with torches and pitchforks?
2. So you’re saying that there were a bunch of people living in a village who were being tormented/having their children stolen by actual, powerful, dangerous witches, and the resulting chaos and oppression of the Salem Witch Trials was actually justified?
Like, I get it if you want to have it be some Villainous Villain who Got Away With It and cacked as innocent women she framed were put to death, but...it really runs into the Santa Claus Paradox at a point.
