Sapphire: Since after the barrier fell, really... Some monsters decided to move back here since they liked their old homes better, so the tunnels just made the commute easier. There’s a tunnel here in Snowdin, in Waterfall, in Skyville...

Butch: Hold up--”Skyville”???

Sapphire: Well...yeah. That’s the region where the flying monsters lived the most down here. It’s built above Waterfall. There’s a bridge that used to connect the two regions...

Butch: I will NOT “go off”... And not just ‘cause I don’t know what the heck that even means!

Sapphire: OK, hotshot... Can you at least tell us who YOU are? Or why you’re camped out in a place like this to begin with?

Butch: Hmph... The name’s Butch, if you gotta know. It’s a MANLY name, and don’t you FORGET it.

Jamie: Tough gloves? Manly bandana? Overall “tough guy” demeanor? I’m guessing he’s our local Orange Soul, Sapph. As for why he’s holed up down here...

Butch: You really think I’ll just march right out into the open before I’m sure these monster types are really on the level? They might’a gotten rid of that old barrier, but you can forgive me for not trusting the fellas that bumped me off just yet... And...going back up there’d mean facing my old man... To be blunt, I think I’d rather square off with the old goat again.

(awkward silence)

Sapphire: Uhh...Butch? Do you...know what year it is?

Butch: Tch... Well, it was 2029 last I checked, and I know a fair couple’a years had to have passed. So...somewhere in the 30s, I guess? ...late 30s?

Jamie: Butch...did you know them?

Butch: Well...not really, but... They were kind of the reason I left the Ruins in the first place... The old goat was super doting and all, to the point it got annoying, but I respected her ‘cause she called me how I wanted to be called. So...when I heard her frettin’ about some other kid that went missing...I thought I’d go out there and find where they’d gotten to.

The woman wasn’t thrilled with the idea, but I talked her into it, promising I’d be careful and stay outta sight... And I did manage to stay under the radar for a while, but I never did find the kid. Just the red ribbon and that plastic knife Toriel said they always had with ‘em.

Then I got caught while trying to bring that ribbon and knife back to her, wound up face-to-face with the king, and...well, y’know. Now I still gotta find ‘em AND find my way through this screwy future land...

Sasha: Hey... We’ll find them together. Hey, five of us already, right? Only a matter of time before we find number six. And you got us to help you through future land, too! We’ve been through all the legal stuff, the paperwork, catching up with culture, restarting school. We gotcha back.

Butch: Sasha...you’re a real swell fella. It’d be the bee’s knees to have a pal like you starting school again. So...fourth or fifth grade? Maybe we’ll be in the same class!

Sasha: ...Actually, since I turned 12 this past February, I’ll be going--

Butch: Wait, you’re TWELVE?! Haha, oh my god!
