the weirdest thing about the butch fem discourse in like 2015-17 was that people kept telling other people to read persistence: all ways butch and femme in which joan nestle (lesbian herstory archivist/founder and editor of persistent desire) introduces the collection by saying that butch/fem includes people who aren’t lesbians and that conferences in the 90’s began expanding those definitions and that she embraces this.
