Fighting brambles in my Crocs
Up the PCH to Half Moon Bay and back to the Boardwalk to ride the Giant Dipper (the Hot Wife loves roller coasters) and do the walk through haunt (I love dark rides & haunted houses).
Just finished making Burger cookies for my Dad for Christmas using Mom-Mom’s recipe (his Mother, my grandmother). They are my favorite Christmas cookie. Dad loves them because they remind him of his Mother.
The Hot Wife was on hand for “quality control” (aka cookie thieving) and as my co-froster.
These are shortbread cookies with fudge frosting, close but not quite, Berger Cookies, a Baltimore favorite (yeah, we’re from Bawlmer, hon).
Supposedly Mom-Mom won the recipe off a woman who worked for the Berger bakery (I believe it - she was a card sharp!)
Here’s the recipe. To understand “cream for cake,” hit up this woman’s blog: https://whatsarahbakes.com/baking-secrets/mixing-methods/the-creaming-method/
Got a break this weekend with Seester caring for the parents so I be home for a few days.
Tonight the Hot Wife and I saw The Concert: a Tribute to ABBA, who were fantastic and a lot of fun. Waterloo is our song. ❤️
The Hot Wife channeling Victor/Victoria and me channeling the Thin Man (although he wouldn’t be caught dead in polka dots). I like these cups. They’re whimsical.
A nice afternoon spent kayaking around the Ghost Fleet in the Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary and fossil hunting at Purse State Park with the Hot Wife and my Seester. That light green patch of flora mid-frame in the second photo is all that’s left of one of the ships that were scuttled here.
I hate caulking the tub. I’m not patient enough to be good at it, but we’ve got guests coming into town and I’ve been putting it off for awhile. The Hot Wife is vacuuming and tidying up. We divide and conquer.
When I finished she gave me a big kiss, said the tub looks fine and is better than she would do.
Still not pleased with my caulking, but kisses are nice. 🙂
Grabbed this off my neighbor’s bulk trash pile. Cleaned, repaired, and painted the drawers, and sanded the box, repaired a seam and painted it, then lined the drawers with cork and put it back together.
Pride project completed! It’s not perfect, but it’s functional and I kept it out of the landfill.
