okay finally getting my thoughts on voltron together as i went and binge-watched 8 of them in one day (possible SPOILERS underneath)

lol i wrote most of this right after finishing the series and then some just now after sleeping on it so it might feel a little disjointed in some places

couple things to say (that’s an understatement on the same level of shiro’s “we’ll go in fast, low, and hopefully undetected”):

okay that was the biggest cop-out of a season finale episode i’ve ever seen. like i know zarkon wasn’t supposed to be defeated since there has to be more seasons but what the fuck i feel like that battle between zarkon and keith was so gd anticlimactic(/cliche?). or at least when i watched it through the one time i felt like it was

s2 better have some fucking background on/character development of keith (and also lance and hunk but this is keith’s section rn). why the fuck is he the special one getting all these random special power-ups? i see no reason for him to be super special just because he’s probably the most experienced pilot of them all and has the red lion. i thought it was the hardest to master why the fuck is he getting it so easily? shouldn’t there be at least some struggle over controlling the red lion? (lol this post describes it p well)

i mean i heard that he’s technically supposed to be the black paladin and therefore the leader based on the original series, but what the fuck. if keith really is to become the leader eventually tell me why he deserves this just from watching him in s1 so far. he has to work to be the leader and get all those benefits, and he hasn’t been working for me

BUT after spending some time in the voltron tag on tumblr (and seeing this post) and reading up on the original series, i might be able to accept keith somehow easily getting all these powers now if it’s really true that keith has galra ancestry. if him having galra ancestry somehow makes him more easily able to pilot his lion, this may also explain why zarkon seems to be implied to be the stronger black paladin -- not just because he’s the original pilot or whatever, but because the lions are galra technology (i actually don’t know if this is actually canon i’m just making up stuff here i didn’t actually read that much on the original series’s plot)

honestly s2 just needs more development overall of the lions/voltron technology. i’m interested

also can we get the full description of the blue lion’s personality? yes allura may not have said it bc of her annoynce at lance’s cockiness but on the other hand i feel like they deliberately hid it in order to not reveal something about lance right now. I JUST WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT LANCE OK HE’S NOT JUST A JOKER RIGHT

i’m sorry for just complaining bc voltron’s not that bad of a show really but i’m just peeved that keith gets all the showtime/special powers when all the other characters are just as worthy

i know, i know, this is just s1 and they can’t show all of the special voltron powers NOW... but keith? nah

(if you didn’t know by now, keith is not my favorite character. that title goes to shiro but if he gets killed off or retires as a paladin bc of the original plot i’m rioting)

anyway the rest of the show is perfectly fine until some parts of the last episode (that cliffhanger tho). generally i guess anyone can watch it but from the way tumblr is making it, some may be disappointed because it might not be The Best Thing You’ve Ever Watched (although tumblr really does make you feel like that after you finish it and then go in the tag). don’t get me wrong: it’s a good show, the animation is superb, and perfectly good fodder for a new obsession, but... it’s just me. maybe not for you!

the humor/jokes are pretty good actually. i like the character interactions a lot

okay contrary to what that entire section above may insinuate, i don’t hate keith as a character, he’s just not a favorite. i like all of the main characters a lot actually, and i really hope lance, keith, and hunk get more character development/background in s2!!

honestly i’m praying that the first few ep of s2 are individual character development eps (since they’re all like... on their own after they come out of the wormhole) bc we literally know NOTHING about lance, keith, and hunk. like we got development on shiro and pidge, but what do we really know about the other three paladins? literally everything we have in the tag is contrived from headcanons and large jumps from the little official info we have

i also hope allura and pidge get more ass-kicking scenes in s2. allura did not get everything she deserved

shiro and pidge as a duo is my favorite thing in the world. next is lance and keith obviously

(i would talk shipping/romantic relationship headcanons but let’s save that for another day... not that they’re much different than what’s in the tag)

honestly the group dynamic between the paladins is my favorite thing in the world. i’m such a sucker for found families. i’m actually low-key hoping no new significant characters are introduced into team voltron in s2 bc i love the current paladins + allura and coran so much

the fucking voltron forming sequences though. i started skipping them every time bc it’s so gd long they need to cut it

JEREMY SHADA AS LANCE THOUGH. MADE THE SHOW. SOMETIMES I LAUGH NOT BC OF LANCE’S JOKES BUT BC I REMEMBER IT’S JEREMY SHADA AND BC HE’S SO CUTE and also adventure time

anyway the wait for s2 begins. it’s gonna be bad bc voltron has only been out for two weeks and i need more ep RIGHT NOW... but they ain’t coming any time soon. hopefully sens8 and mr. robot will distract me when they come out soon

As most of you know, I’ve gained quite a bit of weight since Wolf and I got together.  Like 40 pounds.  I’ve been upset and down about it and have hated myself over it, and have tried to lose the weight back off but now being menopausal makes the weight loss difficult (body hoards fat in order to hoard what little precious estrogen it has left).

The other day I put on a pair of jeans I bought at the thrift store. I called Wolf (who was in North Dakota) and said, “These new jeans make my butt look BIG.”

And he said, “YES!!”

Never before have I existed in a world where having a big butt was a good thing.

It’s kind of refreshing.

It is actually quite sensitive, you know? He would not let me experiment as much as I wanted to, but on rare occasions when I got the chance he always seemed to enjoy me... interacting with it.

As for liking... I suppose it had a certain appeal. But I did not notice it much before his naked phase.
