Butte Morning

I have here some more images taken in the historical section of downtown Butte, Montana. Specifically, I'm not far from the Hotel Finlen. The town is very attractive for photographers such as myself: lots of old buildings, neon signs, and ghost adverts on old brick walls.

Butte Evening

Once again I have here some more images taken in the historical section of downtown Butte, Montana. I start off with another shot of the Dumas Brothel, located on Mercury Street, with the Hotel Finlen sign lit up. The two other shots were made on West Broadway Street.

Dumas Brothel

After photographing the dawn, I wandered around Butte's historical district a bit with camera in hand. I stumbled this attractive structure and shot it with the Finlen Hotel in the background.

Upon looking it up, I found out this is the Dumas Brothel, which is (apparently) the longest continuously running house of ill-repute in US history. You can read about the place here; it's located at 45 East Mercury Street in Butte.

Our Lady of the Rockies with Crescent Moon and Venus Awaking early one morning while staying in Butte, I was thrilled with what I saw to the east: Our Lady of the Rockies with a waning crescent moon coupled with a nearby Venus.

Our Lady is a ninety-foot tall statue that sits directly upon the continental divide east of town. (The Great Divide nearly circles this town, like taking the long way around a roundabout.) The not insignificant sized statue is celebrating forty years in existence currently—construction began at the end of 1979 and was completed in December of 1985. An Evening in Butte

In the first image above we see the Hotel Finlen as seen from 83 East Park Street. Next we spy Mark Dotson taking in an NFL game at the Party Palace at 1 West Park Street. Lastly a building at 80 East Park Street with Our Lady of the Rockies in the distance (more on that in subsequent posts).
