one time! i ate porridge out of the same bowl as the rest of my household, as one does.
but then. betrayal happened.
the person next to me, my aunt in fact, ate more than her share of the butter in the middle of the bowl. the cheek! the thievary! the emotional betrayal!

the funniest thing about american butter being 'sticks' is that most recipes will say like '1 cup of butter' which is, usually, 4 sticks. why are we measuring things that come in "sticks" in cups? and why is 1 stick not 1 cup? HOW IS ANY OF THIS LOGICAL AT ALL? america is so stupid. SO STUPID.
I have engaged with way too many recipes where I have to try and squash solid butter into a tablespoon or cup measurement and it is so extremely stupid. JUST TELL ME A WEIGHT. even when it wants, like, 4 tablespoons of melted butter, HOW THE FUCK MUCH BUTTER DO I NEED TO CUT OFF TO MELT IT. this is how i wound up making cornbread last night with a third more butter than necessary because I melted too much and I was like, well, what am I gonna do with it now.
(it was very good cornbread. I got no regrets on that front.)
cups/spoonfuls are fine when it’s, like, sugar or flour. YOU CAN POUR THOSE THINGS OR SCOOP EM OUT. THEY NATURALLY FILL A CUP.

dark times, which dreadfullness still make me wake up in horror. no butter! or actually there is still butter but very expansive! how to live now! back in 2011, my brother lived in norway and the darkness, it still follow him everywhere. his eyes are hunted with the memory.
yes truelly in that year, the year of butter darkness, this tragic tale were told to me by a classmate who were from Dalarna and whose family lived on both sides of the norway and sweden border.
Her norwegian aunt used to eat a very thick layer of butter on her sandwiches every single day. yes her aunt, were the master of the sandwiches were there are more butter than there is sandwich.
but!
because of the norwegian butter crisis the aunt could in 2011, the year of norwegian butter doom, not do that anymore! she were forced, to like, travel 1 hour to her sister in sweden. one hour travel, all to get that butter.
clearly. this is the darkest tale of the norwegian butter crisis of 2011 ever told. a norwegian women seperated from her true love, bread with more butter on than bread. tragic!
