okay so i'm 2 eps into butterfly. the premise of this show is daniel dae kim is a black ops type agent who co-founded a private security firm with piper perabo called caddis. he faked his own death years ago but came out of hiding because his daughter, rebecca (who was a teen when he "died") is now an agent/assassin with caddis, and he's here to intercept her.
the fight scenes are very good. the chemistry between daniel dae kim and reina hardesty is excellent, and strikes the right balance of a dramatic father/daughter reunion between an exasperated father and an angsty 20-something... who also happen to be very dangerous assassins.
so many of these spy movie and spy shows use locations as just a background and the people as mere extras and the story is western forward and seen from a western lens, but in butterfly, korea and korean culture is central to their identity.
also, kim ji hoon is in this, and he is FINE!
unfortunately amazon already cancelled this show so it will probably end on a cliffhanger.
