as the other shifted over with her to the barside, purposefully avoidant of non-existence, eclipsa made a point to seek out the other’s gaze & maintain a steady eye contact.
“ most of those who have reached out during this tragic time tell me i should have half a mind to shove you straight out of — well . . . ” she purposefully trails as her head leans towards the eternal darkness walling off half of the tavern.
“ but we’re far beyond punishments . ”
“ earlier i mentioned that this was my everyday life, rolling with the punches & making heads out of tails . & from what i see, you’ve made a few reckless decisions yourself, not that mine were this out - of - hand .
my point is that a mother’s relations with her daughter is the most sacred bond a woman could ever dream of, & it seems your selfish behavior has thrown what trust she’s had for you out into the obliterating darkness . ”
a hand reaches out for moon, holding hers with a gentle reassurance. “ what you did may be unforgiveable to most,
but if they could forgive me, she can forgive you .
you must remember, you’re the one thing she has left, which was a comfort we never had .
you’re still here ; make the time count for something, moon . ”

Letting out a hollow laugh as Eclipsa removed herself from the windowsill and entered her room, it turned into a sigh moments later.
“You’re telling me. I feel like it’s partially my Mom’s fault that they’re all a bunch of stinkin’ cornheads, because like... the kitchen staff can’t cook anything without being told what to make, the tailor can’t repair things without being told what he needs to fix, the knights don’t even know when to train without being told? Why would the knights not have their own training schedule already?! Ugh! It’s like I’m being pulled in twenty different directions all at once all the time, and I can’t stand it! I’m never gonna have more than like, ten minutes of peace until I teach them all how to think for themselves!”

“Oh come on Star! I just spent a half hour making this cowlick go away!” Marco huffed as the unruly strands of hair immediately poked up towards the sky again.
@butterflyiiisms is down for the angst
Toffee frowned in concentration, using his magic to place the ship in the bottle and assemble it. Star had many ship in a bottle kits (they were all Mewni warships though he had repainted this one to resemble a monster one) and it seemed like a good way to gain some finesse with his magic.
He was just in the process of setting the sails, tongue actually stuck out a little in concentration when...
@butterflyiiisms liked for a starter with Ludo:
The small Avarian sighed wearily, trudging back towards his campsite, a hand-made sack slung over his shoulder.
He couldn’t have possibly been gone much longer this time than he had the last time - at least it didn’t feel much longer than three months - but this dimension had been much less kind to him than Mewni had.
He was exhausted and sore - he’d spent almost the entire day and night alternating between climbing trees for fruit and digging around in the brush for berries and other vegetation. He’d had more than his fair share of falls, and one too many close encounters with some of the more aggressive creatures this dimension had to offer.
All he had to do was get back to camp, start up a fire and he’d have supper in his hands in no time---
He stopped abruptly a few feet from his destination, squinting in confusion as he tried to figure out what he was seeing. Was he crazy, or was there someone at his camp...?
Moon-Pie Serenade
{Closed Starter || Starter Call}
It had been a long, long, long day. On the plus side, he was king of all eagles on Mewni now. A completely platonic title as he assured Moon, so that was always a plus. And he hadn’t completely made a mess of everything when he ran the kingdom, all by himself! River knew that maybe he shouldn’t have partied so hard, but he needed to distract himself from worrying himself haggard over Moon and Star going off.
Partying hadn’t worked, or it only worked for a short time really. Honestly, River was just so glad that everyone was relatively okay and alive after all that... magic business. Magic could fix anything, right? Just like it fixed the mess that was caused by both his partying, that large apparently deaf monster, and of course Ludo. Or was it that lizard fellow? Either way, that Ludo merchandise made for a good bonfire. And the people seemed to love the year’s supply of fire material as well!
But now everything was all calm and relatively quiet in the kingdom, and he finally had his Moon-pie and Star-shine safe and sound at home. They really should discuss whether Star can go back to Earth or not, she was having a lot of fun there, and her studies were going well as well! F stood for Fantastic after all, a perfect grade for his daughter. And the Diaz’s were such a nice couple, and that boy of theirs would make a fine king someday.
River mused upon this and more as he walked through the now clean and refurbished hallway to his and Moon’s shared bedroom. One hand stroking his magnificent beard, the other one placed behind his back, in essence the perfect image of what a king should look like. Except for the fact that he was still in his monster-fighting loincloth, but it was the perfect clothing to fight monsters in! So nimble, so swift, the only thing better would be to go- Well. Maybe not that.
“Moon-Pie!” He exclaimed as he walked into the room. Of course after Moon had come back from... wherever she went, there was a lot of hugging between them. And Star. And Marco. And even that incredibly buff frog monster. But now it was just the two of them, all alone, in their bedroom. “Now I know it’s a little early for this but... Since it’s just the two of us...” He waggled his eyebrows, before suddenly pulling a cushion out from behind us. “We can finally build a pillow fort!” A little silly, yes, but after everything that’s happened? River thought a little sillyness would be welcomed.
