The context is that this goes with a fic that I'm half working on behind the scenes. I don't really wanna spoil it here that much in case I actually post it to Ao3(most likely when I get more motivation to actually sit down and write).

so like, i remember reading something about espresso trying to find like a soul jam or smth for immortality (although having to help madeline) and like. isnt butter roll trying to make an immortal cookie. theyre both searching for immortality in different ways.

also im pretty sure both of them were kinda outcasts in parfaedia. espresso as an honor student with not much social life, butter roll for having a different goal in mind leading to expulsion. just smth i think abt.

I like this a lot actually—I do enjoy anything that has to do with Epresso and Butter Roll(underrated pair, if you will)

I wanted to put some of my thoughts as well regarding these two as well,

I think they're both very similar, mentality wise—and what I mean by that is I keep thinking to the Cookie Odyssey story where Epresso gets fired from being the lead researcher for the soul jams.

I kept thinking of Butter Roll when I read that😭

I enjoy thinking that Epresso knew about Butter Roll's "controversial" research subjects. However, he didn't know the extent of it after Butter Roll was expelled from Acidemia. And if he ever did find out about the unethical experiments he's been doing—he'd somewhat understand the passion he has for it.

When it comes down to it through, I believe Epresso sees more value in other Cookie's lives and can't bring himself to fully support whatever Butter Roll aims to do(create the perfect cookie)(specially the experimentation/creation of other Cookies, even more so the disregard and disposal of Cookie/Cookie dough)

Also, because he's working for Dark Enchantress Cookie, but that's like... irrelevant😒(/J)

A few, some sad, some random(/ref)

I hc Butter Roll Cookie worked and/or studied at Parfedia Institute(mainly because of the Epresso Cookie interaction, but really it could be at any)

He came from the Créme Republic but left to originally study magic. However, he got really deep into studying cookie biology from a morbid curiosity, which developed into a bad obsession(his special interest/hj)

Speaking of magic, I like to think Butter Roll Cookie couldn't grasp magic beyond the basics of it, to which he could only barely pass his magic classes.

A teacher (my oc 'cuz I'm so awesome and cool/j) directed Butter Roll Cookie to different pathways, which initially started his downward spiral.

Along with that, I also think a reason(AT FIRST!) for wanting to study cookie biology/making cookies was for self fulfillment and recognition, but that reasoning had been abandoned long ago.

Butter Roll Cookie is VERY particular with his appearance and workspace. As you can't create the perfect cookie if you, yourself, do not look the part!

Butter Roll Cookie felt bad/guilty when he initially started his solo research(collecting samples, experimenting with living subjects, etc...) however his humanity(cookianity?) was abandoned a long time ago.

At the time of his kidnapping, he was on the run from kingdom authorities already, and so he was relieved to have evaded facing consequences regarding his crimes against cookiekind.

PUSH THAT COOKIE INTO THE ULTIMATE DOUGH!!/HJ

I keep thinking about the parallels to White Lily Cookie(White Lily Cookie if White Lily Cookie abandoned her commitment to Cookiekind) <- this is actually the inspo for a lot of upcoming art(teasing hehe)

Adding onto that, I believe Butter Roll Cookie convinced himself so much that everything he's ever done IS for the benefit of Cookiekind and that what he is doing is for the greater good(his morality thrown out the window)

I also think he's tried raw dough at LEAST once... he didn't think it tasted good but came to the conclusion that if he found the perfect recipe. Would his opinions change?

Everything has an explanation, a reason for existing, and by witches, is he gonna find those answers no matter how much dough he needs to dispose of to get to it.

He's never actually met Dark Enchantress Cookie, but he sure wishes he can! He has preplanned questions and everything!

He also wishes more Cookies felt the same passion he does when it comes to Cookie research.
