I seriously need to try to get people into Ryan Adams so I can finally discuss how the album Gold is so many of the things I like about music.
Holy shit guys. I was totally skeptical when I saw the video description. I was thinking I'd be angry because there's a large number of tumblr people out there that think it's ok to bash religious people. I thought that's what this was going to be but no. I kinda love it. The opening statement is "Jesus came to get rid of religion". That seemed a little sketchy to me but I listened on. The more I thought about it the more I agreed. It seems that church these days seem to have lost sight of what they are supposed to be doing. I think he handled the topic very, very well and I love it.
Maybe it's because I'm butt sore over how my church has treated my family and me. Maybe it's because he's totally right. And additionally to all my fellow tumblr goers, seriously, for being the psoter child of "acceptance" as far as social networking is concerned you need to pull that figurative anti-Christian log out of your ass. Not every Christian out there is waving an anti-gay sign. For example I STARTED our school's GSA. I know a lot of stellar human beings who happen to be Christian. So, yeah. Seriously.
But I digress. I really like that this guy separates churches and Jesus from religion. I like the idea of church. It's good to get together and be with people who believe in God and such. But it is also far more powerful to DO GOOD together as a body. But I seriously don't like the segregation of the different denominations AND the (sometimes) elitism of Nondenominational churches. Alright, I'm done. Watch this video.
