So 2 episodes into Stranger Things 5 and. While I enjoy the storyline thus far dear GOD, is it ever obvious they got the "Netflix viewers are dumb now, explain every action and reaction and joke, and recap the plot thus far every 30 minutes" memo.

That's where all the extra time is. Painful.

Like, Nancy has a lil moment of getting underestimated/misogyny'd at, actress does great facial tick that expresses "you have activated me!", pleasing!

…then she explains out loud what just happened to Mike/the audience, who just saw it happen. I looked at Tree like, "are we getting cliffs notes AS WE WATCH."

Again, so far I LIKE the storyline and how Lucas is super involved, characters we've wanted to see interact are getting good spotlights, etc! But.

No joke goes unexplained! No great moment goes un-undercut!

And FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Karen fights for her goddamn baby's LIFE with whatever the hell is nearby, as no suburban mom ever expects to have to do, she smashes a bottle and stabs the fuck out of a nightmare monster she has no context for except IT WANTS MY KID, gets slashed up and almost DIES, and...

That's torture for me to hear. Oky, I could have been cooler in 2024, interacted better with everyone, 2024 was good for me.

But I also hate how I was in 2024. I was useless, I was mentally manipulated by someone I trusted, I was tired of the discussions at home, I didn't have any friends at school to talk to, I was alone !! That's why I interacted a lot with people online, because I was alone and in a deplorable state. In 2024, I was doing SH as if it were normal !!

In 2024, nobody cared about my mental health, only about my character, how cool I was and how much of an idiot I was. I'll never be the same person I was two years ago, forget about it.

I'm still the same person I've ALWAYS been, just with different tastes! And that's normal, I'm growing and maturing, it happens to everyone.
