Oh my god okay so, this is really cheesy so completely understandable if you wanna pass on it: a tsf where Shane is Reader’s bf, and Reader is always a lil worried whenever he goes to one of those haunted places, and he figures that out when they hug him extra tight when he gets back? Maybe teases them a little? 💜💜
You heard the front door open and you bounded off the couch and towards your boyfriend. As soon as you saw Shane you took a huge leap, jumping onto him.
He laughed as he caught you, pulling you into a kiss as soon as you were back on your feet. As you broke apart, you pulled him into a tight hug as you always did when he came back from a haunted expedition.
Shane seemed to take notice of this and took a step back, still keeping you in his arms, “Everything okay?”
You gave him a sheepish look, “I just worry, you know?”
Shane chuckled, “I think you’ve been spending too much time with Ryan.” You punched his shoulder and he began laughing again. He pulled you in close and kissed the top of your head, “But I will always come back home to you. Don’t you worry.”

“Thank you, again, for doing this,” you said for probably the millionth time of the night as soon as everyone was out of earshot.
Shane laughed and your stomach lurched, you chucked it up to the alcohol.
“It’s my pleasure, really,” he reassured you like he did every other time you had thanked him, “You clearly did not want to come alone and I always enjoy free drinks. Besides, it’s fun making someone jealous. I don’t know why he’s jealous of this gangly mess though.”
Shane glanced over at your ex across the room. Your best friend and your ex-boyfriend had only met a few times. You didn’t intend for that but you had broken out into a huge fight every time after the two of them had met. Your ex had insisted every single time the two of you were in love. You had told him he was crazy and the two of you had never been more than friends.
“He hates you’re so tall,” it wasn’t a complete lie, just not the whole truth, “I wasn’t allowed to wear heels since it would make me taller than him. I can wear them around you and you can still tower over me.” You glanced down at your shoes. You had missed your heels.
Shane laughed again, louder this time, “You weren’t allowed to? What is this? 1952?”
That made you crack a smile.
“Oh, so you are enjoying yourself,” Shane teased. You had been pretty down all night. You had been broken up with less than a week ago hence why you asked, no begged, Shane to come with you to pose as your boyfriend. You thought it was going to be a struggle to get him to come but he said almost instantly.
“It’s not been ter-” you stopped as you saw your ex heading towards you. Shane must have seen too because he put an arm around you. Your stomach lurched again. It was so weird it had been doing that lately. Maybe you were getting sick.
“Do you trust me?” Shane whispered in your ear. you gave him a quizzical look. “If you trust me. Just giggle and nod like I said something funny.”
You weren’t sure what he was up to but you did trust him so you did as he said.
As soon as your ex was in front of you Shane dipped his head and caught your lips with his. It caught you off guard but at the same time, it felt way too right. You kissed back greedily. A hand slipping into his hair. You would have continued but suddenly someone was clearing their throat and bringing you back down to Earth.
“Oh, hi,” Shane gave the smuggest look he could to your ex.
Your ex looked from him to you, completely astounded, “So I was right. I always knew the two of you had something going on and I was just your side piece.”
“What?” you were utterly baffled at his accusation. “Wait, is this why you broke up with me?”
“Yeah. I was done playing second fiddle. I saw the looks you gave each other. I knew you weren’t faithful,” he went on.
“Whoa,” this was news to Shane but he didn’t let him phase him for a second, “Y/N is one of the most honest, sweetest person I have ever met and to think she would cheat on you for a second is beyond ridiculous. I was just lucky you were dumb enough to drop someone who would walk to the ends of the Earth for anyone she loves enough and beautiful, smart, funny, and looks great in heels. As soon as you said bye I finally took a chance. Something I’ve been working on years to get the nerve to do. Sorry, buddy but your just a dumbass.”
There was now quite a few eyes on all of you. Both you and your ex were speechless. You had to remind yourself it was just an act Shane was putting on for you, especially with the way your heart was now pounding in your chest.
“Sorry if you think I cheated but it was easy to move on from you to someone as great as Shane,” you boldly said.
That was enough for you though. You didn’t wait for a reply. You turned on your heel and headed out the first door you could. You made it to a closet and slipped in needing to catch your breath and to stop your head from spinning.
A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. You didn’t say anything but the door still opened. It was Shane.
He gave you a small smile and closed the door behind him. You were practically chest to chest in the small space that was just meant for a few coats or brooms, “I figured this was where you ran off to since the light was coming from under the door.”
You were quiet for a while to Shane pulled you into a hug, you accepted and wrapped your arms around him.
You pulled back after a minute and looked at him carefully, “How much of all that did you mean?”
You saw a hint of a smile as he answered, “All of it. I’ve liked you for years but the timing never seemed right.”
You started breathing heavier as you tried to process this information. Your chest pressing into his. Shane couldn’t help but look down and you felt his fingers, that were resting on your hips now, dig in.
“Consider the timing right,” you told him before grabbing his collar and pulling him down for a hungry kiss. It felt all too right. It felt right as you tangled your fingers in his hair and when he pressed you against the wall and it especially felt right as he began slipping off your dress.

You leaned back over to the pile of presents to pass more out when you spied something in the tree.
“Mom, what is this?” you asked pulling out the ornament that had been caught up in the branches of the tree.
“Oh! Good! You found it!” your mom cheered rushing over to steal the ornament out of your hands. You rushed off into the other room to grab something, making you laugh.
“Oh you found the pickle!” your boyfriend cheered.
You shot him a confused look, “Why are you acting like this is normal? This is not normal.”
Andrew chuckled, “It’s totally normal. It’s the Christmas pickle.”
“You can’t just say it’s the Christmas pickle and pretend that’s a usual thing to say,” you pointed out.
“I can and I will. Don’t brine about it, babe,” Andrew gave you a cheesy smile.
You punched his shoulder in a playful manner, “Okay explain to me what a Christmas pickle is and why it was on the tree.”
“Well, it was there because your mom asked what kind of holiday traditions we have in the Ilnyckyj household. She said something about since we’re all family now she wanted to make sure she included some of the things we did,” Andrew explained.
You leaned into him a little before kissing him softly, “She must really like you. She’s never done that for any of my other boyfriends. She made a good choice though. You are a keeper. Even if we have a Christmas pickle tradition now.”
Andrew smiled down at you and kissed your forehead, “It’s a sign of good fortune for the new year. Whoever finds the Christmas pickle will have good luck in the next year.”
You paused for a moment to think before you nodded, “I like that. Weird but charming. Much like you.”
Andrew laughed, “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
“You should because I like weird and charming. In fact, I love it,” you gave him a cheeky smile.

“Oh, Zach,” you gave him a sympathetic face as you watched him struggle with the tape and wrapping paper at his desk. The gift he was wrapping was already in a box making the struggle even more pathetic but in a way cute.
He frowned harder but didn’t reply as he added more tape to his mess.
“Okay. That’s it,” you took the gift out his hands. “I’m coming over tonight and helping wrap your presents.”
“How do you know I need help with all my gifts?” he reached back for the gift but you kept it out of reach and slowly unwrapped it.
“This is so an attack on Hanukkah,” he joked as you took the paper and tape from him.
You took pride in your wrapping so you quickly, you could actually teach him to wrap later that night, and carefully rewrapped his present. You even added a ribbon before handing it back.
Zach looked impressed for a moment then dropped the smile, “Show off.”
“Jealous,” you teased him, pushing him. “I’ll see you later tonight. Your place. There better be ribbon.
Teaching Zach to wrap was much more difficult than you expected. He had set out all the tools to make his gifts look beautiful and he watched you carefully but there hadn’t been much improvement.
He threw down his most recent gift, a nice jacket he had picked out for Eugene. Zach may not have been able to wrap his gifts but he had great taste.
“I’m going to make some cocoa. Since we're almost done and I’m basically next to useless,” he sighed standing up.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself,” you reached over and squeezed his thigh before he stood. “You are ten times better than when we started.”
That made Zach laugh, “That’s not much but I’ll take it thanks.”
You finished the gift you were working on and something caught your eye, “Hey we almost missed one!”
“Huh?” Zach called back from his kitchen as you spotted a present that was half shoved behind his couch. You would have completely missed it except for you were sitting on the floor.
“This little gift that it looks like you shoved under the couch!” you shouted back as you unwrapped it. The box was tiny and you knew it was none of your business but still, you opened the lid and gasped as the gorgeous locket inside.
“No! No! That one’s for- That one doesn’t need-” Zach came sliding back into the living room.
You bit your lip trying not to feel jealous of whoever the gift was for. “She’s a lucky girl,” you were trying your damnedest to not let your voice waver, years of pent-up feelings did not need to come out tonight.
“More like, I’m the lucky guy if she says yes. I was going to try and get the nerve to finally ask her out after years of wanting to. Figured the gift might sweeten the deal,” Zach admitted, watching you carefully.
“Years?” you felt a little betrayed now. Zach never said anything about a girl, at least not about one he had been pining over for so long. He didn’t say anything so you picked up the mess of wrapping paper that had been on the box and found the name tag on it. A smile spread across your face as you saw your own name.
“So?” Zach looked nervous and hopeful.
“Yes! Of course!” you scrambled off the floor and ran over to him, talking him with a hug. Zach stumbled back a little but caught himself before tightening his own arms around you.
