Winnipeggers will soon no longer be able to feel the glow at the Neon Factory.
Tough breaks for the neon factory in Winnipeg, MB.
The Montreal Signs Project draws on the city’s rich history of independent signage, recalling a time when downtown was alight in custom-made neon splendour.
Interesting article from the Globe & Mail about the Montreal Signs Project and the desire to salvage neon signage with mention of the Buzzing Lights book as well. Great to be included!
The Buzzing Lights Project was released as a book 1 year ago today!
Thanks for making it a great year for neon. ;) You can still get a copy anytime by visiting the shop link above or my new home for published work, Doublecrossed.ca.
It's a merry Christmas for The Buzzing Lights Project this week with a full feature photo essay in Toronto Life magazine.
Yesterday, I spoke with Tom Power on @cbcradio-blog's Q all about the Buzzing Lights project. Letters have come in from the maritimes, Alberta, BC and Los Angeles. I've been charmed by every photo and story. What an effing treat.
If you didn't catch the broadcast, you can hear my part of the show right here: http://www.cbc.ca/…/photographer-tanja-tiziana-explores-the…
This night neon image is the (now partly infamous) dark highway diner on the US 23 that I tell him about in the "drive back" story.
Thrilled to finally get my hands on a hardcopy of the National Post feature on the Buzzing Lights book.
In Copenhagen a couple weeks ago, I was standing under a glowing red “KAFE" #neon in the rain the evening this came out, half miserably damp, half thrilled out of my mind – smiling, stupidly, at the red reflections on my boots and the sidewalk. There would be no celebrations for this elated Canadian that eve but I had just the bottle waiting for me back home in Toronto. It took the jaws of life to get it open (note the severed cork in the pic) but some things are worth the struggle.
Thank you @calummarsh for the honour. It’s a great piece, and not just because it’s about this book.
