It was really the jam sessions outside of the gig that were the schooling. We used to play a lot in Woodstock - there were some epic jam sessions.

A couple of times we wound up

at Hendrix' house in Woodstock. It was me, Sanborn (David), Phillip Wilson and Gene Dinwiddie. Billy Cox was there and all the gear was set up in the living room (Hendrix' Marshall's and Billy's bass rig). We played in the living room and it was so loud you could not hear the drums or the cymbals. You could see him (PW) hitting the cymbals but you couldn't hear them.
