I love you for it but also for the way your eyes crinkle up in the corners when you smile and the way you know you can’t cook for shit so you always clean up after I cook for you, willing to take half of any burden I lay at your feet. I love that you know all the complicated rules for Sabaac and you never cheat when you’re playing with me, even if you're a fucking liar about it. I love that you’re terrible at tying knots so none of your shoes have laces, and I love that you know exactly how I take my caf, which sort of music I want to listen to when I’m working with mech-tech, which sort of food I’m in the mood for when we go out for lunch based solely on my expression—do you know those are dates? Do you know when we’re walking down the streets of the lower levels of Coruscant, it takes all my training and all my fear to not reach across and hold your hand?

(i did have a moment where i thought this was from amort & amor, cause apparently "writing love confessions via character a listing small yet noticeable details and actions about character b because love is about observation" is something i do many times)

(but my second guess was bwbw so im gonna count it as being able to recognize this almost immediately)

anyway: holy shit love for this anakin is totally about observation, knowing, and presence!! they both know so many little details about each other because they're always around the other!! the fic itself is based on the prompt that a bad guy observed how much anakin loved obi-wan and decided to use that in order to get his revenge.

so i was writing this list whch is pretty long from the point of view of someone who could blurt this out in a second and the list could go on and on---and i wanted to include quirks and things that weren't necessarily positives about obi-wan, but that anakin still loved (he can't cook, he can't tie knots, he's a fucking liar about sabacc, etc etc) because half of this fic is obi-wan being a little shit to anakin because it's entertaining and he loves him

but also it was important for the story to convey that maybe they're not together romantically yet, and maybe anakin hasn't told obi-wan they should be dating and that he's in love with him yet, but this anakin KNOWS he is loved in some way by obi-wan. like. love is about knowing someone's small things, and anakin knows obi-wan knows his small things.

it doesn't do a lot to diminish the fear he feels about taking the next step in their relationship because in the end that's a scary thing, but he is aware that obi-wan loves him

So SPOILERS for "Our Life Beginnings and Always", Baxter DLC:

Here a headcannon for my OC, Coco Last's proposal to Baxter. (If it seems familiar it's because I originally posted this elsewhere but my brain is still fixated on it).

If anyone expresses the slightest bit of interest in it after this, I can and will elaborate further.

My brain got caught up in planning how my oc (Coco Last) would propose to Baxter. It contains spoilers.

Context for Coco, they are a blonde haired blue eyed Oscar winning and very prolific actor (who also invests in their projects, collecting lots of royalties). They keep their dancing skills sharp for movies and never so much as had a crush on anyone other than Baxter. Also... They are very EXTRA.. as are their proposal plans.

They start planning maybe three months after they start dating Baxter for the second time. This is necessary because they plan to propose on their third anniversary with Baxter, and they need the entire Ballroom building that they are having built on barren land near the mountain lodge where Baxter took them on vacation the first time to be completed for their post proposal trip... and this is just the tip of the iceberg. They are always asking Baxter questions about how he's like to be proposed to for "future reference", and put what they learn to good use.

They are proposing on their third anniversary because their third time running into Baxter was the charm. They are also proposing at the Cypress where they met Baxter, and they want to make sure it will be a surprise. Therefore a month before their first anniversary they confirm with Baxter that they'll go to the Cypress for dinner every anniversary.

Their first anniversary, they give Baxter a bouquet of black roses (for rebirth) and White roses (for loyalty) also because his favourite colours. Then they go to dinner at the Cypress and reveal they rented the ballroom out just for them and Baxter that night.

Their second anniversary, they give Baxter the same flowers, dinner and ballroom time except they ask Baxter to take the next week off work ahead of time. He does and Coco reveals in the ballroom, while they are waltzing together, that the two of them will be spending the next week at a competitive ballroom dancing camp. Of course, it's a blast.

This whole time, some of the work calls they've been taking were about the ballroom building they are having constructed near the mountain lodge where they took their first trip with Baxter. A month or two before their third anniversary, the ballroom is cleared by four different ballroom inspectors, the competitive ballroom camp organizers, and all the competitive ballroom team coaches that attend the camp. So the camp finally has a permanent location, and after they propose to Baxter they will both be able to enjoy both the mountain lodge where they took there first vacation and the competitive ballroom camp they enjoyed after their second anniversary.

Their third anniversary begins the same as the last two for Baxter, so of course he expects nothing until Coco proposes during dessert. The experienced and skilled videographer Coco hired did an excellent job disguising themself at the table Coco booked for them to have the best angle. Coco also covered their meal on top of paying the videographer and a large tip, because they firmly believe it's better to over compensate those you hire. (The photographer is at the same table as the videographer and gets the same perks, they may or may not end up dating). The videographer captures Coco's grand, romantic, five minute long (have I mentioned they are EXTRA? laughing) speech and Baxter's reaction to that paired with his dream engagement ring perfectly. Of course, the pictures are also perfect, Coco doesn't play around about getting the best for Baxter.

After dinner in the rented out ballroom there's a live orchestra, which Coco then reveals they commissioned for the week. And Baxter's like how? What? And Coco reveals they commissioned the band to play both for that night and the week of the ballroom camp. Baxter's already impressed but when Coco reveals where the ballroom camp will be that year he's baffled. Because there was no ballroom at the mountain lodge? And Coco's like there is now. And he's like you didn't! To which Coco confirms they did have an entire Ballroom built for him and them and the competitive ballroom dancing camp. Baxter is bashful and baffled all like "That's too much"

And Coco responds:

"No, that's not too much, what might be too much is that I named it

some ghost quartet wallpapers bc today marks 365 days since i first fell in love with it and malloysicals in general!!! also this doubles as my birthday gift for our king dave🎁🎁🎁

aside from that, i also have a letter/rant about my fave musical theatre composer on his special day!!! will put under cut later but i'm on my phone rn so you have to put up with this long post for now sorry!:

It's been exactly one year since I learned about Ghost Quartet, and can I just express that I feel so lucky to have found it. There's something so beautiful in all that chaos of a storyline (if you can even call it that), and in the insane music and writing, and it really drew me into it. I've always been a fan of non-linear, nonconventional shows, and GQ is definitely one of the most interesting ones I've seen. Not to mention it has so many references to other awesome works, some of the most gorgeous voices ever, and a quad of incredibly talented instrumentalists (who are also the actors themselves so! plus!).

I'm a proud Starchild, and if you're reading this and haven't gotten around to listening to it yet, I am telling you, go for it. Also, tip. Wikipedia could really help you get a grasp of the story ^-^

Anyway, onto Dave Malloy himself. He's now basically my favorite musical theatre writer/composer, and I'm really thankful he exists. His shows are essentially all I've ever wanted in a work: unorthodox, mix of genres, ambitious, filled with amazing people, very much inspired by other stuff, certainly weird, and definitely different. Oh, and he doesn't rhyme a lot either, which is something I find really cool. Corny (cheesy, but we say corny where I am XD) as it is, I'm really grateful to Dave for helping learn more about myself, my interests, and how being unique can still bring you success. Aside from that, there have been some songs that really changed me and the way I see things, special mentions to "Starchild", "Dust and Ashes", and, oh, pretty much the entire album of Octet XD

I'm now a fan of seven malloysicals (whoa! namely: gq, preludes, comet, octet, clown bible, bwbw, and whale) and I have great admiration for his other works that I haven't gotten into. Of all this, Octet is my clear fave, and I really don't have to explain why; heck, I made a whole letter for them last year haha! But my point is, this past year has been incredibly touching for me, and shaped my theatre interests forever <3

And it's not just Dave. All the people, actors, crew members, instrumentalists, and so on that I've discovered thanks to his shows. I won't mention any specific names, because then it'll show my favorites XD but I think you already know which people I'm referring to. All of these people who've been a part of any of the productions, most especially those who've been involved in MULTIPLE shows, I. love. them.

Last thing, I'm also really grateful for all the other works I've developed an interest in thanks to the inspirations and resources that were behind some malloysicals. 1001 Nights and Fall of the House of Usher? Read them thanks to the ghosts. A Great Wagon? Read that gorgeous poem thanks to Saul's hymns. Heck, even Moby-Dick? I heard/read that Dave was making a musical based off it, so I decided to finally read (an abriged version of) it to understand what all the fans were talking about when mentioning it's context.

So! If you've read this far, wow! Congrats to you, I'm officially in awe ^-^ and if by any chance Dave Malloy himself reads this, I've only got a few words.

Keep doing what you do, listen to your fans, don't be afraid to make changes, and happy happy birthday. Hope to finally see one of your works one day, and thank you for existing.
