USA High 1x01 An American in Paris

This is the first episode of the late 90′s “teen”  (was any one really believing that the cast was still in high school) cult classic USA High. It was produced by Peter Engel who also did Saved by the bell and California Dreams.

This is the first episode of USA High and the first time we seen Winnie and Christian interact. It will take nine more episode before they become canon in “Making the grade” 

For those of you who don’t remember this show it ran from 97-99 on the USA  it was about  Six friends (4 Americans, a Brit and a German) are enrolled at "The American Academy of Paris" boarding school in Paris, France, which is run by a stuffy English principal.

The English accents are down right awful and plots are as about as deep as a kiddie pool, but back in the day I loved this show and will always have a place in my heart, especially the character Winnie. This was one of the rare shows back in the day where the black girl got to be in a relatioship. 

Yes Winnie suffered from the “loud sassy black girl” stereotype, but she also got to be seen as beautiful and desirable. Winnie was never short of attention from the male students and never had trouble getting a boyfriend, she even dated a prince!

As someone once said this show is mac and cheese with out the mac, but give it a chance anyway because Marquita Terry was the unsung black girl actress of the 90′s.

I really can't wait until October.  I'll be in London even if it just for a week.  I'll get to look at the school I want to go to and I'll be with my boyfriend.
