So instead of having separate bins for trash, paper, plastic, and compost, the Rhode Island School of Design uses compostable plates and plasticware.
Food scraps, plates, cups, and utensils all go in the same bin. How amazing if this were the new normal! Implementing systems of zero-waste is certainly an idealistic view of the future.
As we’ve seen, and will continue to see in our blog posts, going zero waste is incredibly difficult- especially in the city. But transitioning into this style of disposable would be a huge step towards a more sustainable way of life <3
