     “Okay, so I can absolutely explain.”

     The cause for concern should be obvious. He wishes it wasn’t but, unfortunately, it is. Robot, without a care shown on their glimmering faceplate, stomps back and forth with their arms out as they chase after a poor, unsuspecting, little red chicken. 

      “I was teaching him about jokes, starting with ‘how did the chicken cross the road,’ and he first didn’t get what a chicken was so I showed Debbie to him and then I had to explain what a road was and I think he’s trying to figure out what the rest of the joke is but I promise that he won’t hurt her!”

      And, since catching a chicken is very hard for those unused to small fowl, the Robot has yet to actually put their claws on the little creature. It has yet to ‘cross’ any sort of road that they see, preferring circles, so they’ve got work yet to do.

    Hm.

That’s odd. 

They swear they just felt Will fall asleep. 

    Ah well. Will is Will, contradictory in every logical way. They wouldn’t be surprised if he figured out a way to be both Asleep and Awake. He’s awfully clever like that.

     And, honestly, they still don’t quite understand this ‘sleep’ nonsense, so maybe it doesn’t work like they assumed. Humans are awfully odd.

    In the dark of a slumbering Jupiter, something bright and glimmering tilts their head. 

     The Robinsons (and apparently all humans, if Dr. Smith’s snoring is to be noted) need sleep. They leave themselves vulnerable for quite a while, tucking themselves under thin fabric and burying their head into something that stifles sound, as if they never thought to consider the danger. 

     Will, in particular, is vulnerable. He sleeps with his back to the door, a weighted pile of fabric keeping him pinned. Usually, his sleep is heavy and long, the light in his mind flickering from place to place. He never seems to feel particularly well-rested either, as if he simply can’t keep up with the energy drain demanded by his body. 

      He, sleeping so soundly, wouldn’t hear anyone come in. 

      And that is where they come in. 

      Blue lights flicker to purple, a sharp hand raising to show their palms: light, very hot, eeks out of their plating, threatening to burst. There’s someone here, in the dark (when they too are a bit slow, tired and batteries draining), and they don’t take too kindly to any of that.
