“I refuse to believe you've misinterpreted my affections. I am wholly in love with you. And it is permanent.”
“But kissing Locke never felt the way that kissing Cardan does, like taking a dare to run over knives, like an adrenaline strike of lightning, like the moment when you've swum too far out in the sea and there is no going back, only cold black water closing over your head.”

This was my most favorite contemporary book of 2018 yet!
I don’t even know where to start - The Kiss Quotient was cute, witty and highly educative, as the main lead has high functioning autism and it was explained and executed in the most engaging way. And most of all, the story was so romantic *insert dreamy eyes*
Stella, the main character, is the sweetest and kindest person to ever exist. And although she keeps thinking that she’s different and won’t be enough for anyone because she has Asperger’s, I’ve seldom related to a character more. Especially there was this one line that had me yelling “ME TOO GIRL” because that is me with everything, especially all my books, shows and their characters - “She didn’t know how to be semi-interested in something. She was either indifferent...or obsessed.”
Moreover, Stella’s strong, independent, hard working (a bit too much), highly successful and yet she’s clumsy, goofy, cannot lie to save her life and doesn’t understand sarcasm; all of which made her all the more precious to me. As for Michael, it’s been a long time since I’ve read a book where I loved and respected a male character this much. You know, one doesn’t always need to be a cocky son of a b*tch or a don’t-talk-to-me-it’s- my-brooding-time kind of a guy to be interesting and liked.
And don’t get me wrong, I love bad boys but Michael was like a breath of fresh air. He was just good to Stella - no mind games, no ulterior motive, no problematic behavior. Nothing. He was just there for her. There was this one scene where he had to make a choice between going after his mom or Stella and I truly appreciated him making that tough decision and going after his mom, even though his (and my) heart was breaking for Stella. I also enjoyed reading his interactions with his other family members and their customs and traditions.
Another thing I liked here was that Michael was half Vietnamese and this wasn’t included just for the sake of representation.
And as much as I loved Michael and Stella individually, they owned my heart as a couple. There wasn’t a dull moment with them. Some of their scenes had me laughing so loudly and a few had me crying but most of the time I was just thinking when I might find someone like Michael. All in all, this was a highly enjoyable and extremely well-written book, with the story and dialogues flowing effortlessly. I can’t quite believe it’s the author’s debut novel. I would 12/10 recommend.

“Miles,” I say with a smile, “you’re looking at me like you fell in love with me.”
He shakes his head. “I didn’t fall in love with you, Tate. I flew.”

“You're lucky I love you, babe. If any other girl had done this to me --" "You love me? You just said it." "I ... Well, damn. I guess I did." "Did you mean it? I want to hear it again." "Aw shit, babe. Don't make me say it again. It's bad enough I said it first.”
