By Starlight
After the boys throw Allura an elaborate birthday party as a way to show how much they care, it’s the quiet, clandestine meeting she has after darkness falls that brings the best gift. [From Tumblr Prompts List]
“Allura.” Her hip pressed into the side of the balcony ledge at the deep timbre to his voice. While he didn’t use the loud volume as he was often prone to doing, the power that reverberated behind the word was unmistakable. “Lotor,” she replied simply, her own voice taut with apprehension. She swallowed, a tightness forming in her abdomen. Her attention flickered to the stars peeking out overhead; how had he been so silent? Where was his warfleet - or robeast? Had he come alone? Her pulse quickened. “I heard it was your birthday today. And you didn’t invite me.”

BY STARLIGH5 AAAAAAUAGHHHHHHHHH *fucking explodes*
It’s occurred to me today that you might like to know this, and I hope it ends up improving your day whenever you read this:
Your work, By Starlight, is as beloved to me as a library book with so many check-out stamps that it needs an entirely new card every week. That’s how I view it, in fact: a comforting love story that I often come back to as if I were checking it out from the library anew. And though I’ve read it many times by now, I always find myself moved by the twists and turns the story takes. The amount of times I found myself in Clara’s shoes as a young woman learning what it’s like to live as an independent adult is innumerable, and I often find comfort in the knowledge that Clara makes it to a good future. Because if a little fawn like Clara can find love and purpose in her life, then maybe I can, too.
skskdfhjkk this DID improve my day! SO much! aaaaaa 😭
tbh I kinda fell off copying chapters of this fic over to AO3 because it was taking a while and there didn't seem to be much interest (and I didn't want to spam the fandom page or people's inboxes). But maybe I'll think about picking it back up again. Thank you so much for telling me!!! 💜

Finally copying this old thing to AO3. Post-canon E/OC.
By starlight I'll kiss you
And promise to be your one and only
I'll make you feel happy
And leave you to be lost in mine
And where will we go
And what will we do?
Soon said, I, will know
And are you just like me?
Dead eyes, dead eyes
Are you just like me?
Her eyes, her eyes
Were as vacant as the seas, yeah
Dead eyes, dead eyes
And are you just like me?
And all along
We knew we'd carry on
Just to belong
By starlight I know you
As lovely as a wish granted true
My life has been empty
My life has been untrue
And does she really know, who I really am?
And does she really know me at last
And are you just like me?
Dead eyes, dead eyes
Are you just like me?
Her eyes, her eyes
Were as vacant as the seas, yeah
Dead eyes, dead eyes
Are you just like me?
And are you just like me?
And are you just like me?
And are you just like me?
