“So are you a doctor or something?” Diane asked, eyes shining in wonder despite her accusatory tone. Her parents had been quick to teach her that the pursuit of science was not one suitable for a lady, but that sense of amazement remained. Meeting all the women who had either never been subject to such advice or simply chosen to ignore it was one of her favourite parts of living in Rapture, although she’d never admit it aloud. “Or are you an actor?” There were plenty of those in the city, too, even if they tended to keep to themselves. Although admittedly Diane had just pounced on this poor woman, spotting her uniform and jumping to all kinds of conclusions. Sometimes her curiosity got the best of her. “Or, do you just like playing dress-up? Because that’s okay, too.”
