i love otose and gin's relationship to the moon and back like i cant i rlly cant. gintama shows from the very first chapter how gintoki manages to find new friends and family by being kind and caring towards the ppl he meets... hes so far from perfect but the more ppl spend time around him the more they see his honest and kind nature and are drawn to him... and many of the connections and friendships he formed throughout the series, whether it was a job or a total accident, began with his choice to offer a hand when needed.

but like. with otose it was nothing like that. he didnt have an ounce of strength in him and all he could do for her is promise to stay by her side and protect her. he had nothing else to give or say but for her it was enough... she took him in and gave him a home he didnt think he deserved but he stayed bc he promised to return the kindness she offered him. she was with him through the worst part of his new beginning... she was the reason he could begin all over again and rebuild his life at all and in all that time he couldnt rlly "pay her back". he was broke af and had a hard time keeping a job and paying rent, he was probably much much worse mentally it was just all a mess. but he became her family and for the first time in years she finally had someone to call home too... shes a woman loved by the entire town, but after losing her husband she mustve wanted to experience that intimate love of a family again. and then gintoki showed up out of nowhere all dirty and starved and tired and became her family. hes the son she never had and she loves him unconditionally and its what they both needed and deserved and together they got to experience the feeling of home again and i love them so fucking much
