..ready to fly? Almost! Last stop Milan, Couchsurfing with Matteo.

Saying goodbye to people you care the most is always hard.

Watching my family waving at me while the train moves away, knowing I won’t see them for a whole year made me question whether I made the right decision. But my big trip couldn’t have a better start! I finally arrived in Milan and was hosted my lovely Matteo, on my last night in Italy and Europe.

We spent hours talking about our life goals and dreams, drinking a couple of Corona’s with lemon (sliced a little too big :D) . He shared with me his volunteer work with disable people and his passion for travel, ensuring that would follow my adventures all year long.

Meeting people like Matteo reminded me why I wanted to go on this new adventure, to give myself the chance to experience all this again, to find amazing people who will take care of me and teach me how to be better.

My flight was really early in the morning and he still woke up and made me breakfast. We both enjoyed the last Italian espresso before he walked me to the bus stop for the airport.

Grazie dear friend, don’t be afraid to follow your dreams. I will see you at my return :D

My last European sunrise of the year! Hat on and goodbye to all my fans.

Sentimental Sunday

So tonight is our last night in continental Europe for a while, and when we return we're doing Southeastern Europe, so it will be quite different! We're feeling a little sentimental and perusing our past blog posts and I wanted to share this excerpt from our post before we left called "How Are We Getting Everywhere?": "...we bought two flights to get us around Europe. One is from Porto, Portugal to London, which marks the end of our 3 month backpacking adventure around Europe. It’s crazy to think how much we’ll have done and seen, and likely changed when we get on that now purchased flight." That flight is now tomorrow... And it's weird how accurate this is, as we have seen so much and changed so much, all for the better (we hope). The past three months have been an incredible whirlwind of cultural experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. We'll write a sappy post soon, but words can't express how incredible this part of our journey has been, and while we're sad that it's over, we're excited for all that is left to come!
