so right now im reading a book about grief, because that's always an interesting and ever-nuanced subject to read about, and i like books that make me think. the thing is, the main character is dealing with the deaths of his friends, right, and he finds companionship in one of his deceased friends' girlfriend. that's all well and good! but, its clearly angling to set them up romantically, which i feel undermines the story somewhat. like, itd be so much more impactful if they were just good friends, working through the loss of someone very important to them and learning how to move on together! but nooo, since theyre both cishet, they gotta get together, because a guy and a girl can't be friends in fiction without being involved romantically, apparently.

i really love those moments when you hear an old song and it was obviously taken and used in a pop song but i also hate it a lot and it makes me want to beat people up it makes me so angry but also good cause wow useful information but it mostly makes me angry
