What is your take on how Alastor would react to Lucifer being interested in him because of the creativity attraction?
Enjoying your work so far you've got really fun characterization that feels canon compliant and really fun plots
Oooooh. Okay so, first - Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it! I keep character Playlists for all the ones I write from the perspective of to get me in the mindset. And sometimes, with Luci and Alastor especially, I have more than one so I can keep tonal differences in mind within different fics. I have... several Playlists for each of them. But I'm glad it is working!
Now in terms of the creativity fic - I think Alastor would be wary, especially given his past situationship/ friendship with Vox. It also depends on how Lucifer presents his attraction. Is he flirty catching Alastor's eye? I don't think Al would respond well to that unless it hit a fine line with that openly antagonistic thing they've got going on.
I almost picture Luci getting distracted by Alastor, not chasing Al, but more than willing to make comments under his breath or to anyone he remotely chooses to confide in as statement of fact
[Husk? Funny. Angel? Predictable for a fic I write. Rosie? Absolute gold. Charlie? Poor girl. The Sins? 😈]
I picture some random conversation about vox's hyperfixation coming up and lucifer catching everyone off guard.
Charlie - I just wish we could get him to leave Al alone.
Vaggi - yeah he's been up in Alastor’s business like, every day. I just dont get why he's so obsessed with him.
Lucifer - probably on account of him being, you know. Objectively Hot as fuck.
Charlie - Angel you can't just... wait. DAD?
Alastor - I'm what now?!
Lucifer, pinning Alastor with an accusatory stare. - don't act surprised, you know you are.
Lucifer keeps going with whatever he was doing prior to his world shattering interjection, and Alastor’s mind is absolutely reeling. Is this something he can use to his advantage? ...should he even try? Since when has the devil found him attractive?
But now he knows he's 'objectively hot' to Lucifer... well. No sense in not at least giving him a hard time about it.
DID WE GET HINTS OF CHARLIE MORNINGSTAR, RADIOAPPLE SHIPPER?!?
Also lucifer being a proximity phone charger is so amusing I was giggling outloud.
Also also the whole sequence with lucifer ans the coffee was so amusing - especially when Alastor gave him the cup and the next line was "the coffee stared black at him"
The wordplay followed by the disgust as he tried drinking it black aiiuuuuugjhhjjjdkkslskkshdksks.
See, in my long fic Charlie is definitely dealing with her own emotional attachment to her parent's relationship. This one sets Luci up at the hotel way sooner and as more actively involved, so she's starting to see him as a person as well as being her dad.
So let's all watch as she awkwardly tries to parent trap Lucifer and Alastor, not knowing just how much they've got going on.
I said it in a comment and I'll say it again here - Lucifer is a badass in this fic, not because of his crazy wild eldritch angel stuff, but because he can singlehandedly undermine proprietary chargers.
And he tried the coffee! But much like his relationship, it needs so much work.
Radioapple fic prompt: "Are you flirting with me?"
"Have been for [x amount of time] but thanks for noticing"
With Alastor as the one flirting gjgjg. Doesn't have to be those exact words if the phrasing is not in character, but something along those lines.
(Hope the news comes soon and that it's good!) ~ demonforthesemen
@demonforthesemen i hope this is to your liking!
The soft clink of a dish settling on the table shook Lucifer out of his reverie. Eyes wide, he stared up into the face of Alastor. It had been a weird few days to say the least, and his interactions with the Radio Demon had nearly doubled in frequency, fucker was always lurking about. As Lucifer blinked up at the demon, he watched that now all too familiar smile tighten at the corners.
"For you, Sire."
Lucifer looked down as Alastor used the butt of his cane to firmly push the teacup into Lucifer's space. He leaned down, flicking his tongue out briefly. It smelled delightful, a soft fruity flavor mixing with the earthy scent of tea leaves. Couldn't hurt, giving it a try. He shrugged off harsher poisions that whatever Alastor probably had access to, and refusing would make him seem like an asshole. Which would have been fine, if he could not feel his daughter's eager gaze from the other side of the table.
"What's the occasion?" Lucifer gingerly picked up the cup.
"I know you've been a recluse, Sire, but isn't it customary for royalty to be doted upon?"
Lucifer snorted. "Just as customary as assassination attempts, I'd wager."
Even as Alastor's smile dropped an inch, Lucifer tipped the cup to his lips, basking in the warmth the tea provided. It was quite nice, whatever Alastor had put in it really did hit the spot. Maybe he should consider stocking some poisons in his spice cabinet, clearly they did have their uses.
Charlie's squeal interrupted his musings, pulling his attention back to the room with force. "Oh look at you two, finally bonding! I had no idea you'd been working so hard go become friends."
Alastor's expression was indecipherable, if not for his perpetual smile, Lucifer would think he was frowning from the furrow of his brow alone. The demon fell into shadow, disappearing from the room as he muttered under his breath. Weirdo. Unperturbed, Lucifer turned to his daughter, idly chatting while he sipped on his tea.
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Lucifer wished he could say his week improved from there, but as it stood it only got... weirder. A gossip magazine had decided to run an article on him, painting him in an unflattering light he was all too familiar with. He shrugged it off, made note to grab a copy for his collection back at the palace, and went on with his day. That same evening, he left his room on his way to dinner, only to find some poor sap's severed head suspended from his doorknob by a press badge.
As intimidation tactics went, it was a poor one. Anyone that had caught a glimpse of Lucifer in action during the extermination would have been intimately familiar with the level of casual violence he was more than comfortable doling out on anyone that threatened his family. The fact they'd managed to place such a macabre display within the hotel itself spoke to this being an inside job. Alastor then. No one else acted like they had something to prove when the King was around. Prick.
Sighing, Lucifer dismissed the head, cleaning his door with a flourish of magic before making his way to dinner.
.... .... .... .... .... ....
As odd as it sounded, flowers were the final straw. Lucifer had awoken on his least favorite of all days. Seven years still had not eased the ache in his heart as he sat up in his bed, arms wrapped around his knees as he contemplated portaling back to the palace, so he could spend this day in the solitude it deserved.
Lily's departure was still a wound he let fester. He could not begrudge her choice to leave, but that didn't make the anniversary of her announcement any easier on him.
He wasn't sure how long he sat, curled up on himself as he lost himself to memory, but it was once again Charlie's voice that pulled him out of it.
"I just don't know if today's the best day for it, that's all!" Charlie's voice was soothing if a bit muffled through the door. "Especially those."
"I haven't a clue what you're referring to, my dear!"
Confused as to why Charlie and Alastor decided the hall outside his room was the best place for their little conversation, Lucifer sighed. Portaling into the hallway, it only took a moment before he saw red.
Or white, as it were. Alastor stood, a vase of flowers clutched awkwardly behind his back as he argued with Charlie. In the hall. In front of Lucifer's room.
And of all the things he could have. It had to be Lilies.
"Charlie, can you excuse us?" Lucifer kept his voice calm, a fact that did nothing to ease Charlie's panic as she jolted, noticing him now seething in the hall in his pajamas.
"Dad! Alastor and I were just-"
He didn't get to find out what excuse Charlie cooked up for the Radio Demon's behavior, too consumed with his fury, Lucifer grabbed the lapels of the demons jacket and forcibly portaled them into Lucifer's room, throwing up a sound barrier as he went so Charlie's cries of mercy fell on deaf ears.
"You've got some fucking nerve." Lucifer growled, horns flashing to their full height as fire poured from his mouth with every word.
"I..."
"No. No you don't get to speak. I don't want your flimsy excuses, own your sins." Lucifer paused, breathing deep to steady himself. "Now. I don't know how you found out about today, frankly I don't care. But you're not going to try to intimidate me with flowers or-"
Alastor didn't seem to value his afterlife much, barking out a laugh as he clutched at Lucifer's arm. "Oh yes, historically the number one reason to give someone flowers. How could I forget. Intimidation."
"Don't try to pretend this is anything other than you rubbing my face in the fact my wife left me. Shit, you don't even like me!"
Lucifer expected a vehement nod, a shrug at being caught. He didn't expect the souring smile as Alastor's ears pinned back and the defiant expression warring with the closest thing he'd ever seen to embarrassment on the Radio Demon's features.
"Wait. Wait. Wait." Lucifer removed one of his hands from Alastor's coat, running his hand through his hair as he blinked at Alastor, as if blinking enough would clear whatever weirdness had permeated the space between them. "You don't like me." Lucifer stated, voice lilting enough at the end to pass the statement off as a question.
"Don't I?" Alastor sneered, eyes wild as his ears pinned back, if possible, even further.
"You've been flirting with me?" Lucifer felt off center.
"Hmmm yes... for quite some time actually. Good of you to finally catch up." His voice stuttered, radio static filling the space. "I'm assuming you wish for it to stop, then?"
"I didn't say that." Voice snapping, Lucifer shook his head. "I just... you've got to let me wrap my head around it but... I'm not opposed." He thought for a moment before shooting another look at Alastor.
The deer demon seemed entirely at odds with the man he'd had pinned only moments ago, the smile wider than any Lucifer had seen him wear to that point.
"But Al? No more severed heads."
With a belabored sigh, Alastor nodded. "I suppose that could be arranged."
I am O B S E S S E D with nightmare!!! The way you've made this certain style of writing for both of lucifer and alastor is such a wonderful way to focus both of their characters. I am so down bad for oblivious but smart lucifer. He gets the himboification done on him so much and thats my boy you know?
I need to read the other storys but I love your writing.
Psps I lied about being a longtime listener I found you from the creativity post. If you ever write that fic pleaaaaase post the link!!!!
I will never shut up about Lucifer he's the character of all time for me.
I love a smart, sneaky, cunning King of Hell that gets in his own way because of his pride [and his prejudices]. He can be smart and also clueless. And I support that man's wrongs. The way I see it, in regards to canon, a lot of his bad decisions boiled down to- I know this is a bad decision but if it's what keeps me connected to Charlie, I'll do it. It's the same reason he did the showdown with vox in the first place... for Charlie.
That, and I think he's got a lot of bluster. He can't harm sinners but he alludes to them not being able to kill him [at least that he knows of]. And I think him having to reframe how he thinks about himself [as having a vulnerability he didn't previously have to account for] is not something that will come easy to him. He may be a duck, but he's also a [bit] of a peacock, you know?
I will be very honest with you, I've been in a creative flurry so I am already writing that fic, but I wont post it until it's at least 75% written so it is easier for me to keep up with chapters.
Thank you for reading, reaching out, and overall making my day.
Hi! I'm dropping by (again) - the last chapter tore me to shreds!
'Their last encounter had been overwhelming to say the least. He’d seen Lucifer’s edges blur when their antics got a bit more violent, but Lucifer losing his grip on his physical form completely had been… new. Alastor wasn’t even sure if Lucifer realized how much had bled out of him along with that blinding light. If staring up at light made flesh hadn’t been quite enough stimulation, Alastor had also been the unsuspecting victim of Lucifer’s emotions. All of Lucifer’s emotions, actually, rolling over him in an onslaught that caused as much agony as it did pleasure, pushing him over the edge far faster than any touch possibly could have. '
Oh my gooood. OH MY GOOOOD. You do a great job of like, keeping Alastor in character and still pushing this line to give him growth that feels real and natural inside your story.
And the truth or dare? The back and forth while they get SLIGHTLY closer to being real with each other even with you showing us just how much Alastor isn't saying is so you know they're not there yet but they are closer than they've ever been.
AND HOOOOOOOLY SHITTT.
“I merely thought the Devil-”
Lucifer’s laugh broke through Alastor’s words. “You trying to date me or the concept of me, Al? Two very different things there.”
“I-” Lucifer brought a hand to Alastor’s lips, covering his mouth with his palm.
“No, actually. I’m not done.”
That conversation? Murdered me. Slain. Dead. Buried. Revived and Thriving.
I have no idea what's next but
I am hooked!
-j 😇
I'm sobbing, thank you so much for sticking with the story! I know the second one in the series was a bit of a departure from the first but I'm glad the ending hit in the way I wanted it to!
Alastor is really fun to write but giving voice to him often requires so much more editing than any other character.
They are communicating! Sort of! Partially!
Lucifer drew a line in the sand - whether or not Alastor realized it, he's been at least partially enamored with the concept of Lucifer. Before they can go anywhere else with this thing between them, Lucifer needs the reassurance he's more than just a pretty idea.
As for what's next - Charlie has been scheming in the background this whole time. She sees how Lucifer and Alastor dance around each other and she's determined to get them together. Only issue is that they're already there, but she's got no idea!
Cue parent trapping a couple already trying to figure things out! Surely this can't go wrong.
The back and forth with vox? Lu and Al are such bitchy biddies together. Lucifer finding a way to insert himself without hitting Alastor ego and LUCIFER HAVING CUTE AGGRESSION. Alastor going all oh yeah we're definitely doing that again right fucking now. Lucifer's quippy bitchy line about Vox working at LuLu World if being an overlord didn't work out for him omfg.
And Lucifer doing aftercare but pretending it just cause it was convenient for him to do, wanting to fall asleep in Alastor’s bed but that's not how they do things omhgiiiiooood.
That scene with shadow involved to, saw the tag and immediately became feral. So good so so so good. And like, I get it why he won't talk about it and it's become this lead by example thing but I just wanna shake him, that bitchass deers crazy about him they can use their words!!!!
Thank you for writing my favorite story ever.
I am weak for Lucifer being just as bitey as Alastor is. Anytime that's a trait they share in a fic, I am bookmarking so fast.
Alastor loves when someone can match him bitch for bitch, and I love when Lucifer gets a chance to be quippy and bored, which absolutely pisses vox off. Yes, Lucifer's territorial over Al, but he's doing it in a way that snubs vox more than it infringes on Al, and Alastor is very In To That.
Im really glad you liked the scene in Alastor’s bedroom - I wanted to up the ante with this one and also give Alastor whiplash when he wakes up taken care of. They are so fucking stupid your honor. Lucifer is trying to play 4d chess around what could still be a manipulation from Alastor, and Alastor has no idea what he's doing in a relationship like this, outside of what he gleaned from Niffty's fanfic [dubious] and his own experience when he was on earth [limited.]
Thank you so much for taking the time to send me an ask and please feel free to dm me directly if you want to talk Hazbin. I will not shut up about these guys and love talking with people about them.
Unlike Lucifer and Alastor, I promise I don't bite. 😌
Also if you have fic recs for bitey lucifer, send them my way, please!
Pleaaase tell me we get possessive Luci in the dreamfic too!!!
Yes indeed! The fic is framed as a call and response so if you see Lucifer do something, Alastor’s version is sure to follow, typically with a bit of an escalation. :)
Alastor just showed a brief glimpse of how territorial he can be. Now it's Lucifer’s turn. He is the devil, after all.
