In the CURSEDTALE AU, Chara was abandoned as a child and was later found by magical creatures who took her in. She was treated kindly by these creatures as if she were their own. She also learned how to perform magic from them. However, nearby human settlements held a lot of discrimination towards them, not trusting anything magical, which includes the Kingdom of Ebott. As she grew older, Chara resented the humans for their discrimination, and would often punish small-minded humans through various pranks. But the ones who she hated the most were the King and Queen of Ebott! For they were the ones who ordered for the guards to turn anyone who might be magical away, practically treating them like the plague and convincing their own citizens to treat them the same. Sick of this, Chara decides to teach them a lesson. She sneaked past their walls and into the castle’s garden where she spots The King and Queen’s daughter, Princess Frisk. She hatched a plan, and started making arrangements. After that, she placed a curse on Frisk that made her transform into a beastly monster at night! When the King and Queen saw what became of their daughter, they immediately ordered for the arrest of the wicked witch responsible, and Chara was soon apprehended. At first, the majesties were considering execution for Chara ‘till she revealed that the curse will last even after her death and that the only way for the curse to be lifted is for Frisk to receive True Love’s Kiss. The royal couple decided to lock Chara up in the dungeon for the time-being ‘till they could think up a plan. Many years later, Chara managed to escape the dungeon, and went into hiding. Along her travels she hears about Princess Frisk’s situation. Locked up in the highest tower in an abandoned castle surrounded by a pit of lava, guarded by a killer robotic dragon… And how she can only be saved from her one true love. Chara was stumped by how vain and small-minded Frisk’s parents were to lock their only daughter away. When she cursed Frisk, it was to teach them a lesson. Frisk turning into a monster at night wouldn’t change who she is. That, what you look like or what you are doesn’t make you any less as a person. Heck, if they had just accepted Frisk, human or monster, they could’ve easily break the curse with just a peck on the cheek! And they would see that humans, magical creatures, and monsters weren’t all that different from each other. But no, instead of accepting Frisk for who she is, monster or not, they locked her away in solitude. This made Chara give up on humans for good, and just live amongst the only beings that made her feel welcome….. Until years later, when the False King took control of the Kingdom of Ebott and ordered for all monsters and magical creatures to be banished to Mt Ebott among one of the most deadliest monsters reside. When the banished magical creature meet Sans - aka The Monster of Ebott -, Chara was the first to boldly volunteer him to stand up to the False King.
