Ellipses hadn't left her bunker in days.
It was warm down there. Torches lining the empty stone walls, a soft bed in the small, closet sized room that she called her bedroom. Her dog was warm too. She had long, fluffy fur.
She didn't need to leave. She had everything she needed down in the bunker. Why would she ever leave?
Console.
Her obsession with Him was frightening to the others. She unnerved them. Why? She just had a normal crush on Him, it wasn't that big of a deal. Frenzy liked Him. Frenzy liked Him a lot. So why is it so wrong for Ellipses to like Him?
She liked Him so much more than the others.
She worshipped Him.
Not in the typical way you would worship any other god, no.
Her way was more strange.
She kept a small shrine near one of the walls in her bedroom. She kept hastily written logs of rare interactions Console had with the players. Messy scribbles of what she imagines He looks like. Love letters strewn all over the floor.
She loved Him.
Today, she's feeling particularly bold.
It's storming outside, the thunder booming in the distance, rain beating against the trapdoor. Everyone is huddled up in the base, relishing in the rare moment of peace.
... Or not.
Ellipses could hear the faint clashing of swords and weapons.Sge could also faintly hear Paul digging nearby, but she couldn't pinpoint exactly where. How could she tell it was Paul? She just could.
She opens the small wooden chest tucked into a corner next to her bed. Inside it are various miscellaneous items, such as flowers, some dye, collars for Frau, and a few tools. Ellipses scans the chest, sifting through it until finally she finds what she's looking for. A small wooden sword.
She'll only use it for self-defense, of course. She couldn't hurt a fly.
Ellipses creeps down the long hallway. In seconds she's in front of the tall wooden ladder leading up to the world above.
She's terrified.
All of the players are nice to her, so she really shouldn't be scared. Whenu, Paul, Mortis, Moth, Frenzy. They're all so kind to her. But that doesn't stop her from being unnerved and unsettled.
What if they attack her? What if they hate her? What if they throw her out, never wanting to see her again? They must think she's strange. Unusual. She hardly interacts with them, so she can't really blame them for not liking her. They probably hate her.
She slowly climbs up the ladder, the sword tapping her leg lightly within it's sheath on her hip. She's shivering, dreading the moment she opens the trapdoor to the chaotic world outside.
She breathes in deeply. It's fine, everything will be fine.
She pushes up the trapdoor, the heavy rain instantly drenching her. She crawls out of the dark, warm bunker, onto the soft, muddy ground. She looks over her shoulder at Manta Peak, dully acknowledging the chaos going on up there. She also sees Paul and Whenu being... well, Paul and Whenu. They seemed to be arguing over something.
Ellipses' breath hitched as a sudden sharp wind blew by. She shivered, rubbing her arms in a futile attempt to warm herself up.
The wind blows by again, harsher this time. It's blowing in the direction of the rainforest near the base. It seems to be beckoning her to go into the rainforest, to get lost in it, feel the thrill of adventure.
She listens to it.
She runs into the forest, feeling nothing but adrenaline as the wind rushes through her hair. It feels good, she feels free. Free to do anything she'd like. Nothing—no one—else could make her feel this way.
But suddenly, she stops.
The air is pulsing.
She can feel it all around her.
The air is pushing against her, yet pulling her in as well. Pinching, poking, prodding at her skin. As if the air is alive.
She can hear faint whispers and murmurs, the incomprehensible words brushing against her ears and leaking into her brain, the inside of her mind in a thick, sweet nectar.
Console.
He has to have something to do with this, right? It's the only way to explain what's happening to Ellipses.
Console...
His name fills her with happiness. She falls to her knees, closing her eyes in bliss. She grips the muddy earth tightly, to keep herself upright.
The whispers intensify. She breathes heavily, her eyes snapping back open. It's coming from everywhere. The whispers are now more like screams, impossibly loud. Her ears ring, but the voices only get louder. They're caressing her, sinking through her pores and embedding themselves deep into her soul. Her heart beats faster and faster. What's happening? What are those voices? What do they want?
She lifts her head up to sky, screaming for someone, anyone to come help her. But no sound comes out. It's like she's been gagged, some fabric shoved deep into her throat so she can no longer speak. Large, fat tears roll down her cheeks as she tries getting up, to run away from the insanity.
She can't move her body.
She tries again to scream, but all that comes out is a choked sob.
Suddenly, she feels something touch her arm.
Its touch is as light as a feather. She can feel its presence close to her, as if something is sitting right behind her. What she can only assume to be the thing's breath ghosts over her ear, causing goosebumps to rise across her body. With great effort, she turns her head to see what's behind her.
Nothing.
She looks back forward. It must just be her imagination. After all, she had just left the bunker after days, she's just paranoid.
Then, the presence returns. Stronger this time. Its warm breath tickles her ear as it whispers to her, its non-existent lips brushing against her ear. Odd, it sounds just like-
C0ns0le.
Ellipses shudders, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks. No, it can't be. Console doesn't even care for her, that voice can't be his.
She whips her head back up to the sky, staring wide-eyed at the clouds above. She laughs. A broken, delirious sound. He's engraved in her mind, buried deep within her, pulling at her heart. Crushing it, making it ooze between His fingers, dribbling down His incoherent arms.
"I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you-"
She yells at the dark sky, throwing her love at Him.
At C0n$0l3.
"Console, Console, Console, Console-"
The screaming is getting louder, her ears bleeding from the noise.
She yells His name like a mantra, believing that if she said it enough, He would hear her. He never did.
Everyone else could call his name, and he would listen. Not Ellipses. He deliberately ignored her. She didn't understand why.
"COOOOONSOOOOLEEEEE!"
After that...
Darkness.
