I really did stay in late 2020 when everyone else moved on... fun fact I've only seen 5 streams from after 2020. jailbreak (techno pov) (the only dsmp stream i ever watched live), apology to fundy, utah, tommy's first dsmp finale stream, and the prison podcast. but i've seen at least some of every single stream between the start of the election arc to december 31st 2020. everything else that i know from after 2020 is secondhand knowledge.
A collection of lesser-known facts about the Dream SMP in 2020:
Tubbo had a library under Manberg. It was accessible through the tunnel between Manberg and Pogtopia. It was completely destroyed on November 16th.
Eret and Fundy had a whole prank war going on for most of the server pre-November.
Badboyhalo made a whole bunch of statues of people on the server, some were in the egg room, one was on Pokimaine Island (in New L'Manberg) and another in front of BBH's house over by the prison.
Dreamon hunters! Tubbo and Fundy (occasionally dragging in other people as well) had an ongoing series where they would hunt "dreamons". Fun fact, dreamons are weak to iron doors.
Fundy and Ponk thought Schlatt might have been possessed by a Dreamom (Fundy) or secretly a witch (Ponk).
The first hotel on the server was Skeppy and Bad's house (near where the prison now stands). The second was built in Manberg by Ponk.
Karl is an American. And that's why he was on Schlatt's side until the very end, because he would never have been able to be a L'Manberg citizen, but under Schlatt's rule he was a citizen of Manberg.
Schlatt's legacy is that Ranboo (American) was able to be a citizen of New L'manberg.
They rarely get drawn this way, but Ranboo was the only member of the Butcher Army not wearing a matching skin.
During the election arc, Tommy wrote a poem. It's first lines are as follows: "History is happening, history is here, history is happening, this is a poem." -From The Pen Of Tommyinnit

The Egg room was originally built to be the Dreamon hunter base.
Sapnap the pet slayer! The pet wars happened concurrently with much of L'Manberg's lore and history, all through it's various iterations.
El Rapids stole Eret's physical throne after George was dethroned by Dream. Karl intentionally lost his first life there in an attempt to frame Eret for his death.
George was the SWAG 2020 vice president.
George didn't care about his house being burned down. Dream merely used that as a convenient excuse to both exile Tommy and dethrone George.
Dream and Puffy worked together to create messes and frame Tommy for them days before the exile ultimatum was given.
Jack Manifold was just outside of the Room Where It Happened (negotiations between Dream and L'manberg about Tommy), listening in and peeking from an opening.
In that same event, Tommy gets up in Dream's face and says that Dream has nothing he can hold over Tommy, that Tommy has everything. Dream takes a single step forward, and Tommy flinches back.
Sapnap wanted to join L'manberg from the start, but was disallowed for being American.
Tommy's house was L'manberg's embassy in the Dream SMP.
In the negotiations for L'manberg's independance (intentionally misspelled), Dream formally agreed that L'manberg was not just an independent country on the Dream SMP, but was in fact it's own separate Minecraft server, not part of the Dream SMP at all.
When Schlatt joined the Dream SMP for the first time (long before the elections) he and Sapnap were the only Americans in the call, but Schlatt didn't realize that for a while because Sapnap didn't talk very much.
Once, while looking at New L'Manberg, Lazarbeam said, "So this city was blown up... and they decided to rebuild it out of wood? Is fire spread on?" And (I think Tubbo) responded "Yes."

Depends on what happens to them After. When Dream and Punz are done with them. The two possibilities are that they’re either just permanently killed or that they had their memories wiped and dumped somewhere outside the smp. The first one always seemed more plausible to me, but I’ve read multiple fanfics where it’s the second. Just imagine these two guys who have no idea who, what, when, where, or why they are trying to survive in a random settlement/city that also has no idea who, what, when, where, or why they are. It’d be like one of those time travel comedy movies while they try and figure out how to live again. Only there’s something terrible haunting every shadow that they can’t seem to figure out. They know they’re different. They know something bad happened to them. But there’s a reason they never remember their nightmares.
Their hair is fully white, but they’re always surprised by this when they see their reflection. Maybe they have scars that they can’t remember getting. Maybe they’re walking down the street and they see someone holding an open book and expect pain for no discernible reason. Maybe they start to go a little crazy trying to take back control over their lives, just like Dream did after the prison.
Oh, yeah. I wonder if Dream ever felt guilty for torturing Vikk and Lazar in the name of science now that he’s experienced that for himself.
Something tells me he’d just try not to think about it.

Thinking of how Vikk and Lazars slow break down and descent into madness, becoming so irreparably damaged and changed into something awful- something that could even somewhat symbolize Dream and Punz's love and horrid obsession. Awful empty beasts creating a black void of a mirror that stares back. Codependency witnessing codependency mutating.
Concept of old gay couple being taken away to have horrible incomprehensible magic experimented on them repeatedly, for months on end, literally being killed in every way *possible* . Thinking surely someone will come, someone *will have to notice* and do something about it. But no one does
How do they evolve in that? How many times do they fall apart and reconcile silently, with understanding, with tenderness that only creatures born in pain do. A mutual understanding of a cramped hot hell they both share.
Mmmmmm just. thoughts on Vikstar and Lazar being experimented on in the dsmp. I really like the concept of what they went through and finding out they had lived together on it made me go mmmm gay old men.
i don't think i will ever be over the fact that c!vikk and c!lazar have NOTHING in this world apart from each other. their lives are torture and their deaths... given the state of the dream smp's concept of limbo, i would guess that their deaths are also torture.
and even if somehow they could survive and escape dream and punz, what then? they can't go home, dream and punz would find them, but even if they could there's nothing there for them. they were chosen specifically because they already had nothing before the whole death/revival cycle began. because they had no connections on the server, because they wouldn't be missed. they WERE already nothing to the dream smp at large.
there's nothing in the world to give them hope. there is literally no way out for them. they're just doomed.

Okay, I know, haha funny dead Fortniters that don't really matter on any deep or personal level, but I'm actually feeling sad about c!Vikk and c!Lazar today. These two must have been scared out of their fucking minds, and there are so many implications and unanswered questions...
Were they left in the dark about what was happening to them, or did they get an explanation for what they were subjected to (after all, there's no harm in knowledge if they're going to be disposed of anyway)? Were they able to talk to each other in between killings, or were they kept separate, only able to meet up again in Limbo or the minutes prior to death? Did everything happen quickly, all executions lined up in advance, or did they have to wait for every new death? Hell, if this was all just to test if the book worked, why were there so many different methods used, instead of a single efficient one? What was the questioning process like after c!Dream and c!Punz resurrected them? Did they actually say anything about the nature of the afterlife to their murderers? Did they feel hope after returning to life only to have it ripped away, or did they know from the beginning that there was no escape? How long did this entire experience take? Was there enough time for them to accept what was going on? Was there a moment when fear became despair? Did they wonder if anybody would notice that they were gone? Did they wonder if anybody would care?
