c!octopus duo art i commissioned from RITCHO :) i’ve been stressed lately cause of finals and just keep rewatching old dsmp vods of them interacting to feel happy. they have such a fascinating relationship to me, basically becoming like siblings in a way simply because of circumstance. forever bound together by what they experienced because it’s something no one else can seem to fully understand. just both so full of guilt, grief and anger masking the sinkhole of sorrow in their hearts.

This wasn't meant to happen is the first thought that crosses Niki's head as she looks at the gun pointed towards them. She's not even really aware of what the man is saying, she can certainly imagine but his actual words aren't going through her brain fog.

Finally she does manage to get something out, a whisper to Tommy- Theseus- her baby brother, the youngest of them, "Stay behind me, I can take a hit."

He was the baby and so he needed to be protected, what kind of older sister would she be if she let him get hurt? She remembers when he was first born, he'd been such a tiny little thing and the others had cooed over him and wouldn't let her get near because they wanted him at to themselves.

She doesn't hear him if he responds, but she is aware of when he finally moves behind her. Some of the tension that had built in her shoulders finally releasing, he was relatively safe now. Safer then being out in the open where their assailant could shoot him.

This way she was the only target, if she could just keep him safe then everything would be fine. If her little brother is still alive and safe and doesn't have bullets riddled in his body then it's fine.
