Fading to Dust (i dare u write it when/if C and Felix are bffs)
Simple mistakes of course, can often be the ones that completely ruin an operation.
In this case it was a lone guard managing to escape C and Felix's attention. It brought on far too much security, far too quickly.
It didn't stop either of them, only slowed down their proceedings.
That was, of course, until there was word that Caitlyn was on the scene.
Nothing could persuade Felix to stay; not the guilt, not the camaraderie or kinship. Not even the fact that this had been the day where Caitlyn triumphed over the master thief. Truly... Felix had never seen the woman miss.
By then, he was fleeing down a corridor, fully cloaked and with this image of C, replaying over, and over as he falls and catches Felix's eyes.
Growing close to people was inevitable, and by extension, so was getting hurt when he lost them. But Felix could have done something, instead watched, merely ran and saw the thief's expression twist and turn.
He'd known Cait was in pursuit, he should've... pushed the man to leave, or been on the lookout, taken the shot for him or even... even... Simply thought.
The time for thought had passed. He put the emotions out of mind as he exited the scene; there would be time to grieve later. When he had hidden his tracks, dragged himself home and loaded up on vodka and rum.
He had made a mistake, and he knew exactly what it cost him.
"Adorable."
