Nita’s expectations of the Initiation ceremony had varied widely, flip flopping between some sort of shitty fraternity hazing and an elaborate cult ritual. Neither seemed appealing and both had a very real chance of forcing her to drink goat’s blood, so she’d dragged her feet when the time came, arriving as late as she could without missing the thing outright. Finding what looked like a bad rerun of high school graduation, she was shuffled off to an area on the side of the outdoor stage, brushing off half a dozen cooing congratulations from the House members in charge of organization before they finally left her alone with her fellow Initiates.
It was then, however, that she suddenly had many questions. Looking around, she discovered she was surrounding by children and teens, a whole gaggle of them all chattering away in excited whispers. She was a head taller than most of them and suddenly the prospect of goat’s blood was looking much more appealing. “Please tell me I’m in the wrong place,” she groaned, glancing at the only other individual in the staging area that looked like they had finished puberty.
