take me back to the start | didom ft. sterling
It was Didi’s first week at Jackson Elementary and she couldn’t have fit in better if she had tried, the rest of the staff were helpful and welcoming and the children had been lovely to her. The blonde was in her fourth year of being a qualified teacher and she loved it more and more every day. She couldn’t imagine being anything else and the age group was perfect for her, she had always wanted children but there had never been the right time or the right person. Since it was her first week, she had thought it would be a good idea to introduce herself to the parents and get to know them a little better so that she knew where to start with their children’s needs.
She had just seen out the parents of an enthusiastic child who had turned out to be just as enthusiastic as their daughter. She had become exhausted from just that one conversation and all she could think about was the fact that after the next meeting, she could go home to her pets, take off her heels and not move for the evening. Her sigh was wiped from her face when she realised who the next child was, Sterling. He was a lovely boy who reminded her a lot of someone she had known a long time ago. Upon hearing his voice, she turned and smiled, making her way over, noticing him talking to his father who’s back was turned to her. “Sterling, I think you should show your dad the painting you did earlier, I think he’ll love it.” She said as she stopped in front of the boy, her smile wide.
It was so good seeing Sterling so happy at school. It was like watching himself when he was younger loving to learn even if it was just shapes and numbers. All week long, all Sterling could talk about was his new teacher. How much fun she was, and how she made learning fun, and her hair was colored. Dom could hardly wait to meet the teacher that had apparently got his son’s attention. “Oh yeah, pal. Let’s see this painting.” He grinned and turned around as Sterling ran off to his desk to grab his painting. Dom watched his little boy before he looked up to see this fantastic new teacher. “Hi—” It may have been ten years, and she might have grown up a lot, but Dom would never forget what his first love looked like. “Didi.”
