“why are you here?“
the lost boys had been raiding a pirate ship. one weaker and smaller and easier to plunder-- but hook’s crew had thought the same. predictable. peter had raised them both well. and rufio faces james with an expression that’s mean. this man doesn’t have a place with them. not anymore-- and rufio steps between hook and the treasure. gestures for the lost boys to scuttle past with what they have in their hands-- gold coins and rubies, their innocence and this man that stands as a scar of what peter’s capable of. the younger lost children don’t have to be aware of what waits for them. not yet.
rufio’s gaze catches on the silver hook. it lingers, before snapping violently to james’ face.
“this treasure’s ours.”
he raises his sword. the one he’d been taught to use by this very man he’d called brother-- and points it to james’ heart.
“you don’t even need it.” he doesn’t call james hook by name. instead rufio spits out-- “pirate.”
