"d'you normally confuse the word charming for dumb?" the bull rider scoffs and rolls his eyes. clearly, he thinks this is one big joke. although, hearing patrick laugh while calling him out does seem to calm any worry he could have had about actually being dumb. "now you're catching on. although i'm able to give back to the community here instead of being some a-list actor." hayes crosses his arms over his chest and shrugs his shoulders. as if he would have turned down an opportunity like that. "you make being my favorite neighbor sound like such a damn chore." his face scrunches up and he immediately shakes his head at the idea. "that ain't as fun as it sounds when i worry she's actually going to corner me somewhere. plus, she has too many cats for me to wonder around without clothes on. i can't risk being clawed to death."

harper lay in bed, her eyes staring up at the ceiling as she heard her sister’s door open and her footsteps resonate in the kitchen before she squealed and went back to her bedroom, the door closing, again. harper had found that, while she was glad heather and gabe were finally together, the sleepless weekend nights were not what she was expecting. after last weekend, she thought she would’ve heard from patrick a little more, but other than the conversation they had had in art, it had been radio silent.  harper didn’t want to seem desperate, but all of her siblings suddenly had boyfriends and weekend plans and harper was here, all alone.

pulling out her phone, harper pulled up patrick’s name and started a message, calculating her text. she didn’t want to seem overly excited to talk to him, but she also wanted to get out of her apartment. she didn’t need to hear the slamming of the bed into the wall or their giggling.  at this point, harper would actually be okay with him teasing her of being needy or whatever if it meant she could leave. 

if i offered coffee, would you save me?

vague, but to the point. and hopefully he wouldn’t ask too many questions that would keep her stuck in the apartment.

The Truce by Sir_Bedevere

Ever since Alison and Mike had unearthed the bomb in the garden, Cap had been acting quite strangely. Well, more strangely than usual. Pat was sure that he was barely sleeping. At least, he always seemed to be up and about if ever he was up himself in the middle of the night. And Humphrey said that he’d seen him patrolling the grounds at all hours, checking and rechecking the perimeter. Pat was sure it was something to do with the bomb and the old memories that it must have dredged up.

Pat arranges for the Captain to sit down and watch the Remembrance Sunday parade, hoping that it might encourage Cap to talk about what's bothering him - or to say anything, really.

Someone dropped me an ask inquiring if there were any fics on this exact subject, so I thought it only right to queue this one up to post on Remembrance Day itself! 

This had a lovely tone, understated yet poignant in how the characters expressed themselves. Especially the Captain; Sir Bedevere wrote him excellently. Pat too, who had just the right blend of kindness and candor.

“Hey,” Raising a hand, Amelia managed to weave through the crowds of those lined up around the main areas of Ignition. Notably when she caught sight of her husband in the far off corner, though it seemed he didn’t hear as she narrowly side stepped yet another member. “Watch it.” The woman hissed, glaring in their direction. “Patrick!” Calling out once more, she found herself stalled by a set of arms in which she turned in their direction. “You do realize I’m Amelia Krongold, the sweatpants don’t change my surname so you best remove your hands from me.”

Payton: I want to shut the Ace down for the next five days.

Payton: We need a safe space for the Royals to gather, and meet with everything going on.

Payton: I also don't wanna risk others randomly showing up, Devils and civilians.

Payton: That okay?

Just because Zarina had acquired a bunch of new extracurricular activities didn’t mean that she had any intention of abandoning her old ones. Walking into Mount Olympus, she was fully prepared to saunter up to the bar and throw banter across to whichever one of the Patterson brothers would was there and would humour her, when she spotted one of them right by the bar. And not on the side that she expected him to be on.

“I’m not used to seeing you on this side of the bar,” she quipped when she approached Patrick, sliding into the seat next to him. Her gaze dropped to the drink in front of him. “You okay?”
