James had been walking through the park, taking a shortcut on his way home from work. His wolf senses picked up movement behind him before a small child leapt onto his leg. He glanced down in shock at the little girl, not really sure what to do. “Uh...hi?” The little girl put a hand up to her lips to shush him. “Mommy’s mad at me.”
He took a deep breath, trying to figure out what the hell he was going to do. “Where is your mommy?” he tried. The last thing James needed was to be accused of kidnapping. The wolf glanced around, trying to find any frantic women. The little girl pouted and waved a hand in a direction. “Over there.”
Ooookay. That was a start at least. He held his hand out to the girl. “How about I talk to her? Ask her to not be mad, okay?” She gave a little sigh before getting off his leg, taking his hand instead. “Fiiiiine,” she huffed. James couldn’t help but bark out a laugh. She was a little spitfire. Hand in hand the two walked through the park, the wolf keeping an eye out for the girl’s mother.
Finally he spotted a woman poking around in the bushes. He cleared his throat to get her attention. “Uh ma’am....is this your daughter?”
