based on this prompt: With every human born, a monster is born as well. Assigned to their human to protect and care for them. Even if they’re afraid sometimes
Person A, at the brave age of 9, decided to catch their monster, Person B, with their trusty flashlight. Once Person B was caught sneaking out of the closet, Person A demanded that they come cuddle, because it’s very cold in their room tonight-
It took some doing for a half-giant wolf to get assigned to a human at all, but Arges never shied from his duty. He adored his brave little charge, as much as the little lad needed him and as much as he was meant to put a little fear in him. Through the years, the boy had gotten braver, and one day he had put his hand in the closet, pulled Arges out, and insisted that ‘you can’t stay in there all night, where will you sleep?’
From then on, every night, the boy curled up within the safe confines of his monster’s arms after the lights had gone out. Where most boys eventually grew out of their monster, though, Arges found his boy only grew closer. And the sweet little boy became a handsome young man, and Arges dreaded the day the boy turned eighteen and Arges would be forced to leave him.
He held his boy that night, the day before his birthday, and tried to hide the tears that welled in his eyes thinking he will, when dawn comes, lose him forever.
