Blaine Anderson is an 24-year-old waiter at the Spotlight Diner, living in New York City, New York. He’s married to Kurt Hummel, and hopes to someday be a Broadway star.
The course of true love never did run smooth, and that is certainly the case for Blaine - but it did finally run its course, bumpy as it was, and he got to marry the love of his life, Kurt Hummel. He also got to coach the Warblers, and the New Directions, after Dalton unfortunately burned down, and they won Nationals with his help. Since then, Blaine has made his way back to New York City, hand in hand with the love of his life this time. He went back to college, albeit NYU instead of NYADA this time, and the fresh start turned out to be just what he needed. Where everything had seemed dull, coldhearted and lonely right before he’d moved back to Ohio, the city now truly felt like home now that he had Kurt by his side again. Everything seemed brighter, happier, and he was once again experiencing the excitement of getting to know such a diverse city with endless opportunities.
Although Blaine knew the chances of landing role in a real play or musical were close to zero for him right now, it was incredibly hard to resist the urge to audition – especially when his husband landed several roles and made his way into the musical world. But now that things were finally stable again, he knew that it would probably be best to focus on his education for now. So instead of giving in to those audition sheets that seemed to be calling his name, Blaine made sure to be there to support Kurt at as many shows as he could visit, and put all his energy in his school work to get to the top of his class. Standing out in a school full of talented people was hard, but Blaine managed to make a name for himself at NYU by putting up flawless performances, and getting involved in Student Government and several curriculum-related clubs.
Now, Blaine has landed himself a job – if you could call it that – at the Spotlight Diner, where he plays the piano and sings for a few hours each week. With graduation coming closer, he’s also once again playing with the idea of trying to set his foot into the musical world by auditioning for a serious play or musical. When June Dolloway walked into the Spotlight Diner in the middle of Blaine’s performance of “Sandy”, it was as if somebody up there had heard him. A long conversation and a few drinks later, the woman gave Blaine her contact information, telling him to give her a call if he ever wanted to discuss his future with her again. Blaine knows it might be a good opportunity for him, but he isn’t entirely sure if giving her another chance is such a good idea.
Blaine can’t wait to dive into the world of auditioning and dreams of a successful career on Broadway. He wants to do it all: leading, touring, winning that Tony – maybe even originate a musical or play one day. The big screen has sparked his interest too, however, as well as the idea of teaching.
What’s even bigger than his Broadway dream, though, is to start a family with Kurt. He’s been thinking about it a lot lately, but he’s too afraid of freaking Kurt out to bring it up. After all, they’re still quite new to being husbands, and he isn’t sure if they’re at the right point in their lives to take such a big step. But despite not knowing when it will happen, or how, Blaine is positive that he and Kurt are meant to be parents one day, and he truly can’t wait for that time to come.
