It wasn’t that his mom made him nervous, he knew he would love Beth and that everything would go alright, but it was the pressure of having the two most important women in his life meeting each other what had him a little anxious. He wanted things to go well, he wanted things to be smooth and maybe it would have helped if Thomas and Dal were here too, but he wanted to make things about Beth, not have Tom around showing his puppy eyes in love to the entire restaurant. “She should be here soon, maybe I should have cooked something, you know, so we could have stayed home and all” Because he disliked public attention and even if he was more at peace with the cane, it all just added to his nervousness. “You alright, right? You look great and mom is gonna love you”

Despite the late hour, Dominic Corderio sat in the town square after his shift at the Graveyard, trying to come down from the high of slinging martinis and listing the endless beers available on tap all night long. He watched as people wandered the streets, still surprised at how a town as small is managed to have such a strong night-life. While it was nothing in comparison to Toronto, let alone New York, he enjoyed watching the variety of characters and listening in on their conversations. Well, as much as possible. So far he’d found out that someone had gotten engaged, and that there was quite the showdown at the diner just days before. Just as he pulled out a take-out boy of fries and cold chicken tenders form his bag, the square went dark. Shops were pitch black, street-lights faded out and people milling around him gasped in surprised.  

He let out a quiet chuckle at the surprised nosies he heard around him and looked over to the person that had been seated just a few feet to his right. “You’d think they never experienced a black out before,” he joked, hoping to make light of this dark situation. @beth-sullivan​

“I brought take out and a bottle of wine.” Vienna announced as she walked into Beth’s home. “I figured you’d still be working on that big case and might need a little pick me up.”

“I know we agreed to this mom’s night out thing but I gotta admit-- it feels weird being out and not at home to tuck the little monsters into bed. I swear I’ve checked over my shoulder for a little pair of feet about six times already.”

Noah didn’t know how to do romance, that was his main problem that day. He had taken the afternoon off, attempted to cook something but he wasn’t sure how it tasted and heck, he bought wine and had even put some candles around his living room. The dogs were staying in the kitchen so they wouldn’t bother them and he was freaking out. It wasn’t like he was planning to get laid tonight, but he was kind of hoping he wouldn’t freak out if things got there? He just couldn’t hide anymore behind his fears because Beth had definitely reached a place in his heart that had been dormant for decades, but when you felt this way about someone, then what was there to fear? And it wasn’t like he was assuming Beth would say yes either, but maybe they could use the romantic environment to talk about them and perhaps Noah could finally be honest about his feelings. Worst thing could happen was that Beth laughed a little, because he was being ridiculous, right? So when she knocked at the door and he opened it, he tried his best not to look as nervous as he felt. “Hey, hello, you’re beautiful as always, come in I wine you” He said, shaking his head “I mean, I have wine for you, want some wine?”

Noah wasn’t really interested in going to the festival but it had always been hard for him to say no to Thomas. He knew he didn’t have to go, but he honestly could use some time away from the house, and his brother had assured him he could sit and that there were nice places to just chill and take some air. So he had believed him, and well, he also wanted to support him. He had seen him the previous night talking to Dal and Tom looked... happy. Noah liked seeing him smile like that and he was tempted to see more. And sure, it didn’t hurt that he would get to see Beth and hopefully sort out everything that had been going on lately, since he wasn’t sure if they were in good terms or not.

And the drive to the festival was... interesting. He was kind of amused, which he didn’t fear voicing once he saw Tom and Dal walk away from them. “I didn’t think I would ever say this but they’re kind of... like similar? I never thought I would meet someone like Tom but they’re like... intense, together. Like, in a good way. Like, sugar, flowers and unicorns” He commented to Beth, unsure if she even wanted to be left alone with him, of all people.

Noah wasn’t sure if this was a date or not and he had been wondering about that all day long. It was a dinner between friends, and an art exhibition that Beth liked. But was it a date? Technically, a meal between a man and a woman was called a date, wasn’t it? But between him and Beth, did it count as a date as well? He was losing his mind thinking over it since Noah didn’t go out in dates, he hadn’t been in one in over a decade, and now he wasn’t sure of what he should wear or where he should suggest they eat. He had taken a long time deciding on his clothes, not wanting to look too dressed up but also, not wanting to look undressed. Shit, this was confusing and so damn hard, but he managed to be ready on time, and taking his damn cane he walked over to his neighbor’s house, knocking on her door.
