open to anyone who wants to meet Donnie || ((the door is a dimensional portal that will shunt him out into another reality at random))
The Sanctum was never completely quiet; a place so suffused with magic, so stuffed full of esoteric, mystical objects that the walls seemed to groan to contain it. Specters and hiccups between dimensions, slithering unknowns (mostly having escaped from the kitchen), drips of viscous substances all echoed through the labyrinthine halls of the old building. And yet, they had never seemed to bother the youngest occupant; Donnie Strange had known this place since his earliest days, had played in the halls and hidden in the heavy drapes. Had chased and been chased by shadows and spiders and his father’s affectionate old Cloak. Nothing about the place scared him, except for one door.
It was tucked away, hidden behind curtains and a statuary of a gruesome gargoyle, barred and caged so little fingers couldn’t find the latches. And sometimes, without warning, it would bang open, and his father would rush to close it again. Donnie was terrified of that door, but as a young man, he had grown curious about it, too. What could be so important, so dreadful that the door had so much protection?
