Bounce Back || Kitty & Elli
Although Kitty was not an actual Ripperdoc, she had still spent a year in medical school and had still adopted enough medical knowledge to know the basics. However, uncommon it was, Kitty still believed in the importance of basic CPR. Most medical professionals disagree, stating that there was no need when a machine could do the exact same thing. But in a crisis, in an environment where there was a lack of machinery and you were on your own- your dependence on machines could very well cost a life.
The dummy was placed on the floor, on top of a padded mat. It lacked the detail of a real human, but still included a rubber nose, blank eyes, and a mouth. It appeared as if it’s lower body had been sliced off from the waist, those specific parts deemed useless for the purpose of this mannequin. Although Kitty had never seen a dead person before, she wondered if this is what they looked like. Limp, soulless, a blank expression. Kitty sighed, as she finally looked up at her student, returning to reality. The blonde woman before her was around the same age, and although Kitty had never formally met her, she had smiled at her the few times she passed her in the medical building. She knew her name was Elli, but that was all. “It’s wonderful to finally meet you, I’m Kitty.” Kitty stretched out her hand and formed a gentle smile, which softened her features. She was happy to teach Elli basic CPR. The more medical knowledge someone knew the better, and it was essential she was properly trained, especially if she was working in a medical building.
Kitty knelt beside the mannequin and placed a hand on his chest. It was cold, stiff against her skin. It felt nothing like the warm embrace of a real human, had no beating heart of its own. "This is going to be our patient for today, " Kitty grinned and glanced at Elli. She was a tall, slender woman, with the perfect sculptured nose Kitty had ever seen. Her figure was absolutely perfect and Kitty couldn’t help but allow jealousy to creep over her. Although it may seem odd to someone else, Kitty noticed the fine details in the people she crossed, and often compared herself to them. Being detailed was both a blessing, and a curse. She always hated her nose and wondered how much a rhinoplasty would cost her. Noticing she was drifting off into her own thoughts, Kitty glanced back at the dummy and tapped her fingers on his chest attempting to formulate a scenario. “Okay, let’s say we are the first to arrive on the scene and we find him flat on his back in this position. He doesn’t appear to be breathing, and his airway is clear, meaning he is not choking on anything. What we must do first, is find the appropriate place to compress.” Kitty brought one finger to the end of the dummy’s rib cage, and to the top of his rib cage, right below his throat. “That is right in between the xiphoid process and the sternum notch, these two points here. Place one pinkie on each point, and where your thumbs meet, that’s the place we compress. Following?”
