Fool’s Errand
Ares prided himself on seemingly always having a purpose, even if it was just to stroll into battle and thrust his spear in the direction of as many enemies as possible. Now was no different. He’d known of the winged goddess whose domain included those easy golden mornings but had never met her face to face. What a pity. Perhaps in another circumstance, they could’ve truly got on. Ares often looked up at the morning sky as it spilled across his battlefields with a sort of reverence. It symbolized the start of a new day, the start of a new war, and usually, the beginning of his enemies’ defeats.
Fueled by all consuming jealousy, Ares steps squished in the bank of the river, but his face was carefully set. Perhaps he was on a fool’s errand, but he didn’t care. He’d do anything to steal Aphrodite’s attention away from her newest lover. “Your rise today was enchanting,” his voice broke the quiet, the only other sound being the running river near them. “My soldiers looked to it for strength.” @eos-elena
