Amphora hadn’t slept very well. She was awoken by her own movements, her own thoughts, her own growling stomach, and more than anything, her own bright light. Maybe if everything else wasn’t so barren, it would’ve been easier to ignore the glow of her own suit. She kept twitching awake, quickly scanning the area for any sign of a flash of red. She feared she might see it too late, and her confidence in her ability to survive would vanish as quickly as her own life.
She was fully awake and hardly rested before the sun rose. With some light aside from her own clothes now, though, she felt more confident in moving away from the booth she’d been curled up behind. Unsure where else to go, she found herself walking in the direction of a mountain that was clearly breaking through the clouds in the distance. She was thirsty and she hoped that there might be at least a water source near it if she could reach it.
